I'll start our story with a young man named Korbin. A young man, his short stature and jet black hair meant he was the last one to be noticed in a crowd. He is, as he calls himself, a dunderhead. Now this dunderhead had found himself creating a real problem. Not only did he run away from home, not only did he join Team Rocket, but he also ruined any hope of promotion by single handily ruining one of their plans. Korbin said that was grounds for immediate termination, but less pink slip and more punching in the face. An aversion to pain drove Korbin over towards Ilex Forest to hide. The thick canopy drove most light from the forest floor, and the darkness provided Korbin the necessary cover to evade his angry pursuers. Now Korbin isn't the smartest boy, but he knew he couldn't return to Golden Rod or go to Azalea Town immediately. He needed some time to cool off, for Team Rocket to hopefully give up so Korbin could pass through. Unfortunately for Korbin, a few troublemakers were gonna find him first; a Farfetch'd the locals call Mud, in account of him using the stuff so much to hide, and a Murkrow I named Marl. These two cards would trick new travelers into one of Mud's traps, then proceed to take all their stuff and leave the poor victims out to dry. Korbin the dunderhead wasn't lucky enough to miss them, and ended up losing all his earthly possessions, down to the clothes on his back. Poor fool lost everything, well, except for his underwear. Mud in his generosity left that for him. Not only was he lost, not only was he shivering in his drawers, he drew the ire of Vessir, a Stantler hiding out from poachers. Korbin in his desperation tried to start a fire in the middle of the forest. I can't get into Vessir's head, you see, but I can guess Vessir is smart enough to know you don't start fires without a proper firepit and clearance you know? Korbin nearly wet his drawers when Vessir stampeded out and stomped that fire dead. I don't know if you've ever seen a Stantler, but just staring at the things hurts your head mighty fierce. They've got these horns that do strange things with air currents or something other. Point being, just looking at the damn things is likely to knock you out cold. Korbin, being the dunderhead who refused to study Pokemon, didn't know a lick about Stantler. The boy almost gave the ghost right there if that charcoal farming family in Azalea didn't find him by chance. They had a Farfetch'd that could hold his own and Vessir wasn't willing to get into a fight over an idiot who starts unsafe fires. Then because Korbin is a dunderhead, Korbin attacked their Farfetch'd. Obviously only one Farfetch'd in that forest, that suddenly had a change of heart. Right. That's one thing I had to learn about him. He was a real hothead, and very rash. Mmm. I'm getting sidetracked aren't I? Anyway, he was pretty much out like a light once that Farfetch'd smacked him in the noggin' harder than a Geodude to the head, so that Farfetch'd and the boy of that charcoal farmers carried him all the way back to their house. Now Korbin didn't tell me too much about what happened next, but I can tell you the boy didn't make any right decisions.
