Hi all!
This is my first song fic, based on the song "The Only Exception" by Paramore. A beautiful, bitter sweet song. Really should listen to it.

Disclaimer: I do NOT own Transformers.

When I was younger I saw, my daddy cry,

And curse at the wind.

He broke his own heart and I watched,

As he tried to reassemble it.

Annabelle Lennox watched her father quietly as he stepped out onto the porch, tears dripping down his forlorn face. Annabelle could hear her mom still shouting inside the house, and Will lowered his head. Annabelle could hear his soft sobbing from where she was standing, by her favorite oak tree. A door slammed, and Will looked up. A soft breeze rustled the tree leaves, and he cursed at no one in general.

And my momma swore,

That she would,

Never let herself, forget.

Sarah Lennox angrily packed her possessions into her own suitcase and walked out of the room, purposely knocking over the picture of her and Will. Annabelle watched as her mother stormed out of the house and into the dark night, choking on angry sobs. She stalked pass the barn, and paused in front of the holographic man standing in front of the Topkick. She glared fiercely at him, and he winced. The man opened his mouth to say something, but immediately closed it again. Sarah kicked the back tire of the truck hard, causing the man to wince again, and hopped into her Honda Civic and drove away.

And that was the day that I promised,

I'd never sing of love,

If it does not exist.

Annabelle, already in her teenage years, sat in her favorite oak tree, her head and arms poking out from the leafy green foliage. She stared the warm colored sunset, and she could almost see a ghost of her mother in her car, driving away from her life forever. That had been the hardest day of Annabelle's life, and she had cried herself to sleep for the next week. Annabelle allowed a single tear roll down her cheek, and she tasted the familiar salty flavor of her own tears. Now Annabelle blocked everyone and everything out, not letting herself become that attached ever again. Not risking anything for the pain and heartbreak again.

But darling,

You, are, the only exception,

You, are, the only exception.

Annabelle sighed contently as she leaned into the warm chest of her big black guardian, the strong and steady beating of his spark slowly lulling her into sleep. He had been the only one there for her, the only one that had shared her pain, and the only exception in her life. Annabelle's father had closed himself off from Annabelle soon after her mother's departure, and he was not the man he was before. He had quit his job, and he just lingered in the empty house day after day. But every night, there was a time where Annabelle almost felt like she had a family again. Her dad would sit out on the porch, and Annabelle would sit on the long grass, and Ironhide would lean against the oak tree, as they watched the sun set, together.
