The sky was black as night—well, it was night all the time in Traverse Town so it made sense. The perpetual darkness made it perfect for him to sneak around on the rooftops of the first district. He did it almost every night, spare the days where he would head to his two other worlds to relax. This seldom happened. Being the heir of the heartless takes up a lot of time.

Zaika stood atop the accessory shop, admiring the courtyard before him. It was bustling with people of many worlds, thrown together in this one town. People were running left and right, the prostitute beside the café was looking for business (Yes, she's a prostitute. Read the manga.), and a moogle was wandering around the tree in the center of the courtyard. The whole scene wasn't that exciting, but it was something to do.

He enjoyed the shadows that concealed him. They hid him from the world. It gave Zaika a sense of security, unlike anything else. Well, now that he came to think of it, there was one thing. But it wasn't a thing at all. It was Lina.

He took several steps forward and was illuminated by the glow of the street lamps. No one noticed him, but he could be seen.

Zaika wore a black shirt with a tight black zipped sweatshirt, which he left open for the majority of the time. Hanging from his waist were baggy black pants. He never cared much for his appearance, so his clothes looked old and ragged. Black locks of hair hanging in front of his face hid crimson eyes. His hair was also messy; he had the same attitude towards his hair as he did about his clothes.

Truly, the only well kept article of clothing was his fingerless leather gloves. Particularly the left one. Ever so slightly, his left hand glowed a faint orange.

After a few moments, Zaika grew bored. He sighed and turned toward the second district as he stepped back into the shadows. As he walked across the roof, he lifted his left hand into the air. It pulsed a bright orange for a split second before dimming back to nothing. He flinched slightly.

With an inhuman leap, he sprung to a roof in the second district several meters away.

As he walked, a faint cry resounded from the first district courtyard.

"Heartless!!"
