Regina tugged back on the black leather reins, bringing her elbows straight back past her hips. The black Friesian horse cocked his head upward chomping hard on the metal bit in his mouth, and then slowed to a halt. Regina glanced around her surroundings, like she was looking for something… or someone. Every tree lingering on the sides of the path was coated in a light dust of snow like some sort of elaborate painting. Now and then there would be a small breeze and the snow would gradually fall to the ground from its home on the leaves on the branches.
"Your majesty," a knight choked out, his metal armor clinging in the silent air of winter. Regina spun her head around to glare at her knight. "What!" she snapped, a smug frown on her face like she was just interrupted from the most important moment of her life. Just as quickly as he'd come up to her, the queen heard an arrow fly by her head, a soft breeze tickled her ear. She saw the arrow implant itself into her knight with a wet thud and she watched the once living knight, fall lifeless to the ground. Regina let a small growl protrude from her lips. Why did I decide on bringing one knight along?, she thought stubbornly to herself. She felt anger rise up through her from the pit of her stomach, ready to attack whoever just maneuvered the arrow.
"Your majesty, I'm ashamed of you," a soft toned voice addressed her from the direction of the arrow. Regina swallowed hard, recognizing the voice. She felt her anger bubble up even more, yet her heart melted, and suddenly her stomach twisted in a knot. Although she felt as if she was going to be physically sick, she held her composure and turned towards the voice. A smirk devilishly crawled across her dark red lips."And why would you be ashamed of me, my dear? " she cooed in a devilish whisper.
She eyed the woman, her hair was a dirty blonde and at the moment she was settling her arrow and bow on the belt loop of her leather pants which was equipped with an empty sword holder on the opposite side. The blonde shook her head as she sauntered over to the side of the queen who was dressed in a red, satin winter coat with lace black edges, a leather shirt underneath, and tight black leather pants. As for the blonde, she wore the same helmet as the evil queen's soldiers and knights, but she had a brown leather vest with a white shirt underneath and her black leather pants. "Only one knight? You make it too simple," she said eyeing the queen who was now glancing down at her. "I have magic, I'm not helpless," Regina felt her eyes roll as she leaned closer towards the blonde, "Don't under estimate me. Now remove that idiotic mask," Regina's brown eyes danced with the glint of the sparkling white snow and she hesitated before breaking their eye contact.
The blonde drew her hand forward up towards the queen's jaw, and clutched it tightly. "Your majesty," she whispered hard. Regina's eyes filled with rage, but she didn't yank back yet. "Who the hell are yo-""You'll know soon enough," the blonde spat before lifting the bottom cloth of the mask quickly, just revealing her lips, and pressed them hard against the brunette's. Regina's eyes narrowed in even more anger and she yanked back. Regina brought her wrist up and rubbed her lips clean of the blonde's dark ruby lipstick. The blonde let out a chuckle under her breath as she slowly walked off down the trail.
Finally, everything became clear. Regina had figured it all out. She hadn't seen her yet, so it took her a minute to let it settle in, recognizing the voice of the woman helped for sure. For a moment she sat in silence and then she let out a soft whisper, "Emma." A smug grin appeared viciously quick as she moved the black horse forward.
