Sighing in defeat after receiving no answer from Erin again, Jay slumped back over to his desk to finish his paperwork. The case still wasn't finished, and with Erin out on a personal, the day seemed to be dragging on longer than usual. Not less than two minutes after sitting down again, his phone buzzed, he quickly grabbed it, praying it was Erin.

"All good. I'm sorry. Be home later." - Erin

At least it was something. All he wanted to do was wrap up this case so he could get home and hug her hard, let her know it would work out fine. This was the first 'real' argument they had had as a couple. Yeah, they had the odd jokey argument about Erin's messy habits vs Jay's army style cleanliness, but never anything like this. In a way, he knew Erin letting Bunny in again was a bad idea. That woman brought bad news wherever she went. He just hoped that this time he'd be able to pull Erin out before she got in too deep. He didn't want her falling down the same dark hole she that fell into 18 months ago, that couldn't happen again.

After watching Jay check his phone 5 times a minute for the past hour, Voight decided to call him into his office.

"What can I do for you Sarge?" Jay asked.

"You can go home Jay."

"But the case isn't closed?"

"It isn't. But you're not much use to it when you're head's elsewhere. Go home, make sure Erin's okay, and I'll see you both on Monday."

"Thanks Sarge"

"No problem Jay. Oh, and next time, try and leave your personal issues at home. I turned a blind eye on you two, don't make me re-think."

Jay couldn't get out of the bullpen faster if he had tried. Nearly breaking the speed limit as he raced to get home, he finally ended up stood outside of the apartment door. He slowing opened the door, and stepped into the apartment; Erin was nowhere to be seen. He could hear quiet sniffling coming from the bedroom and he quickly walked over to see if she was okay.

The moment Jay walked into the room and saw Erin sat sobbing on the bed, he rushed over and pulled her close. She gripped his shirt tightly in her fists as he stroked her hair reassuringly. No words exchanged, just holding each other tight. They sat like this for what seemed like hours, before Erin finally broke the silence.

"I, uh, saw Annie today... She was talking about starting over, moving away... She asked what's stopping me."

"And what is stopping you?"

"You."

Erin looked up at Jay, her eyes sparkling.

"You're the only person who's never given up on me." She half smiled, tears springing in her eyes.

"I never will Er." Jay replied, smiling back at her, before their lips fused together in deep, passionate kiss. No lust, just pure love. Pure, unconditional love.
