I don't own Hetalia or these characters
The hetalia characters are these gods/goddesses/mortals:
Zeus=Francis Bonnefoy(France)
Echo=Natalia Arlovskaya(Belarus)
Narcissus=Ivan Braginski(Russia)
Hera=Elizabeta Héderváry(Hungary)
Aphrodite=Feliks Łukasiewicz(poland)
"Sweet Echo, sweetest nymph, that liv'st unseen
Within thy aery shell
By slow Meander's margent green,
And in the violet-embroidered vale,
Where the love-lorn nightingale
Nightly to thee her sad song mourneth well"
Natalia was a beautiful nymph who had a bad habit of always talking. One day Elizabeta was looking for her husband, a dishonest god who had been amusing himself with other nymphs, or so she thought. Natalia came upon Elizabeta, admiring her beauty.
"Elizabeta, you are so beautiful, I worship you with all of my heart. Come let us talk," Natalia said and bowed at Elizabeta's feet. Secretly, Natalia had been trying to keep Elizabeta from finding out about Francis's disloyalty, she had figured correctly.
"Canst thou not tell me of a gentle pair
That likest thy Narcissus are?"
When Elizabeta find out about Natalia's sin, she punished the poor nymph and said, "You have deceived me, I should hit the you with thy skillet, but I shall have mercy and take words from thy tongue except for one purpose you so love. To reply, you can not say the first word as you might desire." Natalia shook her head and weeped thinking in rage. 'I will sacrifice nothing' she thought as she sharpened her long butcher knife.
"O, if thou have
Hid them in some flowery cave,
Tell me but where,
Sweet queen of parly,"
Natalia then saw Ivan one afternoon, a young boy. She adored his muscle, and his handsome face. She had caught the tempting scent of love and couldn't help but be lured in. As he went to search for prey, she followed him. Wanting more than ever to sing him a lullaby from behind a tree, speak beautiful lovely words into his ears and have him. Growing impatient, see moved along the trees making as much noise as possible. Ivan shouted to them, "Who is following me?"
"daughter of the sphere,
So may'st thou be translated to the skies,
And give resounding grace to all heaven's harmonies."
"Me," Natalia answered, but Ivan did not see her.
"Come here," He pleaded, demandingly.
"Come," She answered him but didn't obey his plea.
"Why do you elude me, da?" The youth asked and the nymph repeated him, "Let us be together." Natalia repeated him once more and stood before him, arms wide. "Do not come closer zhenshchina! I would eat my own heart out then have your deceased skin touch me!"
"Touch me," she cried, but her love had no hope. Her left her and she ran with her blushes to the dark woods. She then went up the mountain and lived out her days in caves. Her flesh gave way and her bones turned to rock, All that was left was her voice. She still replies to anyone who calls out to her.
Ivan never let any of the other nymphs have him and he shunned them, like poor Natalia. One lonely vain maiden prayed to the gods, 'he might some time or other feel what it was to love and meet no return of affection.' Feliks heard this taking pity and granted her prayer.
Ivan one day, out of thirst and tiredness. Came to a fountain where no animal drank from. He got on his knees and dipped his hands down to retrieve water, when he saw his own reflection. He loved himself, and bent lower to kiss his image. Not knowing it was his own image, as he tried to rap his arms around the youth's reflection. The image fled and as he straightened it came back up as he did. He found he could not touch the beautiful creature's flesh, so he gazed at it from the earth. He grew impatient and plunged into the fountain, drowning himself.
