Internal Pain

Remus doesn't have the love of anybody. He doesn't have the love of his parents. He doesn't have the love of his brother. He doesn't have the love of even himself.

Life is hard for Remus Lupin.

He is a werewolf.

No one loves a werewolf.

Remus is bitter. He wishes that Fenrir Greyback had never come near him. He wishes that his life would return to normal.

He wishes he had friends.

He wishes that his parents and brother regarded him with the same love they used to give.

But that cannot happen for Remus Lupin.

He is, in other peoples' opinion, a monster.

That is the hardest part.

Not the tears and cuts into his flesh every month, not the taunts of his father and brother, not the way his mother flinches every time she looks at her youngest son, not the way his old friends ran away every time he tried to join in.

But the hardest part is the result of those actions. Every cruel word tears into his mind, driving him to the brink of insanity. Every frightened gaze bores a hole in his heart. Every scared and stunned silence that greets him when he walks out onto the street splits him in half.

It is a reminder of what he is.

A monster.

A monster, who suffers internal pain.
