When Watanuki declared that he knew how Doumeki had been dressed as a girl when he was a child, he was obviously expecting the archer to get embarrassed about it. What he'd obviously not expected was for the stoic boy to just shrug it off and start walking towards the school. Small things that happened in the past didn't bother him. It was the future that concerned him, and whether he could keep a certain blue and amber eyed boy in it.

She had never let herself get close to anyone. It was too dangerous; not for her, but for them. She couldn't risk what might… would happen if she got too close to just one or two people. She also knew, in the back of her mind, that they would all hate her if they knew. That's why she was happy to except Watanuki-kun's scars, and anything else she could do to keep him happy. He had given her back hope for the future, and proved wrong that little voice in the back of her head.

The world Kohane lived in had always been very impersonal. No one ever called her by name, not even that woman that called herself Kohane's mother. The media only cared for her because of what she could do, not because of who she was. It seemed she was living in shadows apart from the present until he asked, "Can I call you Kohane-chan?"

So many people have pasted into and out of my long life, enough to become… wise to the ways of the world. Ways I would prefer you remained ignorant of, but we rarely get what we desire. We had an inkling, back then, of the future that awaits you, but I can't see your future anything Watanuki, it's become too closely entwined with my own. I just hope that it is different from what was foreseen back then.

His childhood was one of the better time Watanuki could remember; back before he had discovered the family curse, back before his parents had died. After that Watanuki had been living in constant fear of the creatures that haunted him, always hiding behind the wards scattered around his apartment. But that was the past too. For now, Watanuki was content with his present.
