Notes: Set in a random, pre-Tokyo world. What can I say, I like writing from Kurogane's perspective.
Disclaimer: CLAMP's babies... I just play with them.

He wasn't sure how he had gotten stuck carrying the bags on his shopping trip the mage and princess had insisted on, but he didn't like it. He was trailing behind the "neko" like a, dare he say it, puppy as the two weaved their way through the crowded market place. Sakura would occasionally grab the blond man's sleeve in excitement whenever something caught her eye and Fai was pointing out random babbles to the giddy princess.

Kurogane let his attention wander, keeping a discreet watch out for any threats out of the corner of his eye. He saw many men giving him pitying glances and most of the women he saw stared at him, amused. He bit down a growl, he didn't want to give the evil mage any more reasons to compare him to a dog.

The shops they passed were selling many interesting things, things he would never have seen in Nihon, but none of it was interesting enough to hold his attention for more than a few seconds.

He turned when he heard the Princess calling his name. He scowled, the probably wanted him to carry another bag. He stomped towards them through the crowd, or he stomped as much as the dozen bags in his arms allowed him to stomp.

Once he reached them, it took a second to realize that they were no longer near anything of the shops. Instead the three of them now stood in front of what he assumed was a restaurant, though it wasn't any type of restaurant he recognized. It took him another few seconds to realize that his companions wanted to eat there. He just stared.

"You're kidding, right?"

"Try everything once!" The mage quipped cheerfully. Kurogane gave him a look that he hoped communicated how insane he thought the other was then stalked through the door.

"Whatever."

-.-.-.-

The inside of the restaurant also contained many interesting thing that Kurogane was sure he would never have seen in Nihon. Only this time, interesting things meant "things he would never put in his mouth."

The waiter handed him a menu in a strange language that none of them could read, he heard Fai ask for the special. That didn't sound good. Why hadn't the kid come along?

After several long minutes the waiter returned with a platter of something that made the mage cheer but reminded him of something he's killed once. He refused to touch it.

"Kuro-pon, not going to eat your pasta?"

"I'm not touching that stuff!" Fai looked at him strangely.

"But, it's good."

"You don't eat sushi, I'm not eating that!" Fai just shrugged and he and the princess started eating.

Kurogane scowled. Next time he picked where they ate.
