Harm,
I did hear you when your back was turned. I know I was walking out of the cabin, but I heard you. You have no idea how hard it was for me not to start jumping up and down for joy.
Oh god Harm! I don't even know where I am supposed to fit anymore. That's why I can't jump into your arms and say 'Yes! thank god! we can be friends and happy again... and maybe more.'
There's so much hurt from Mic leaving, but there's relief too and with that relief comes guilt. A guilt that I have to resolve before I can go forward, even if going forward means returning to your side... where I belong.
That's why I kept walking away. I don't know, maybe if Gunny hadn't walked into the corridor right then I would have broken down. But he did and I didn't and that's just where it has to be right now.
I know what you're thinking. You're trying to figure out a way to get back out to sea so you can talk to me again. Or thinking of a way to break it to Renee gently. Please don't Harm. If I mean anything to you, please just wait until I get myself back together before you act. You're always so gungho about everything. I need you to please please be patient. When I come back to D.C. we'll have that long talk, but only after I've had several with myself.
I can't promise anything. I can't promise that I won't just be my stubborn Jar-headed self and stay out to sea forever, even when I get back to Washington. Just be patient, not hopeful, realistic please, but patient defiently.
I have to go, Skipper is waiting for a report from me and I have three miuntes and twenty-seven seconds to get to the deck from down here. I'll talk to you later Harm.
Love,
~*~
Mac hit the 'backspace' button, effectively erasing 'love' then began typing again, starting off the same way then hitting the backspace once again. Finally she takes a deep breath and types MAC in large letters really fast, going to hit send but clicks delete instead and as she does she hears "Colonel Mackenzie to the flight deck" over the loud speaker and heads out the door, report in hand.
The End
