Love of mine some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

She lay on the ground, breathing slowly, and steadily letting go. He stands a couple feet from her watching every breath, every tear.

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

She gasps out and he is by her side in a flash. Holding her hand tightly and bringing it to his lips as she silently lets her tears spill from her eyes.

She knows there will be no heaven for her, her soul is too tainted for that. All the killings, the war, the bloodshed; no, there will be no gates of white, no blinding light.

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

He thinks to himself how things will never be the same. How her pink hair will never sway in the breeze, how he will not wake to her smiling face. No, he thinks, I will not live without her. He pulls his katana out and turns from her vision. Slowly he impales himself and roughly pulls it out.

In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son fear is the heart of love"
So I never went back

They lay on the ground, him holding her and her, in turn, holding him. Both thinking about the past, and the future they've lost. He thinks about his mistakes and not noticing her earlier. She thinks about how their love has grown from a tiny spark, to an ever lasting flame.

If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

Their breathing is getting heavier, shallower. She can tell her death is near, and he can sense the oncoming darkness. In the back of their minds one thought lingers, At least I'm with you love.

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
The blackest of rooms

It was supposed to be simple, kill them and leave, but somehow things got messed up, plans were ruined. She was fighting, harder than ever and missed the rouge Nin behind her. The initial stab wasn't so bad; it was after the kunai was pulled out the pain hit. He saw it happen in slow motion, and he killed the man with no mercy, snapping his bones in half, enjoying the sounds. Only after the Nin's death did he look to see her pale face, so full of pain, and he knew she was dying.

If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

Her last breath was short and she passed away while staring into his never ending eyes. He stopped breathing a short minute later. His last thoughts were of her, her smile, eyes, her everything.

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

And as they drifted off, both thinking of each other, the skies cleared up. An afterlife awaited them, one filled with no fighting, no war, and no bloodshed; just them and their love which will last forever.
