Comments: Spoilers 3x04 set just after Gwen said goodbye to Gwaine.

Guinevere smiled to herself as she entered the castle again. Gwaine really was a great man, he had saved Arthur's life and Merlin's...he would be sorely missed from Camelot.

She was so deep in thoughts that she did not notice Arthur leaning against the wall and went to walk past him.

"Guinevere?"

She immediately stopped and turned to face Arthur who looked slightly upset "Sorry Sire...I didn't notice you there"

"Clearly" Arthur pushed himself off the wall and came to stand closer. They both stood there in awkward silence for a moment, Gwen fiddled with her hands in front of her and Arthur's eyes kept narrowing as if trying to size her up.

"So...Gwaine?" he ran his hands through his hair a nervous smile now plastered on his face.

Gwen stared at him, trying to figure out what he was asking.

"He was a real character wasn't he?"

Gwen smiled "Yes he was...he was just so..."

"Goodlooking?" The words spilled out of Arthur's mouth before he could stop them.

Gwen raised her eyebrows "I was going to say honourable"

Arthur raised his hand pointing at her in agreement "Yes of course very...um so you don't think he's..." he gestured wildly with hands.

Gwen just looked at him confused...and then it dawned on her, Arthur was asking her if she thought Gwaine was good looking...he was jealous, something she was pretty sure he would never admit. "Yes he is"

Arthur's face dropped and he clapped his hands together loudly "Right" he went to turn to make his escape.

"If he was my type of course" Arthur turned back around to face her.

"Is he your?..." he asked hopefully.

Gwen blushed "No"

Arthur let out a breath of air he had been holding relieved at her answer.

"Am..." he wanted to say 'Am I your type?', but the words seem to cling to his mouth.

Gwen bit her lip, thinking whether to answer the unspoken question "Yes you are"

Arthur's smile lit up the corridor "Excellent" he felt like hugging her, no scrap that kissing her but the sound of approaching foot steps stopped him from doing anything but smiling.

"I should continue on my lord" Gwen curtsied and Arthur nodded.

"Thank you Guinevere" Gwen smiled and walked away.

Merlin walked up to Arthur who was smiling at nothing in the corridor "Are you feeling alright?"

Arthur clapped his hand on Merlin's back nearly knocking him over "Never better Merlin, never better"
