A/N: More Charlotte Fluff! Set like now, but obvi Jessica is alive and decided to buy her grown up but not so grown up daughter a new puppy.
"A surprise?" Charlotte tilted her head, "A good surprise or a bad surprise?"
Her mom smiled, "A good surprise."
There was a scratching at the door.
Charlotte frowned, "What was that, mom?"
Jessica opened the door. A small, puppy Labrador came bounding out.
"A puppy!" Charlotte squealed, "I always wanted a puppy! He's sooooo cute," she bent down and let the puppy sniff and lick at her hands, "Hi, puppy. I'm Charlotte but you can call me Charlie. What's your name?"
Jessica smiled, "You can name him, Charlie."
Charlotte grinned, "Cool! Hmm," she thought hard, "I will call you Puppy … do you like it?" she pat the puppy on the head, "Of course you do. Oh look at your little tail," she giggled and looked up at her mom, "Look at his little tail! He's so happy!"
"He's not the only one," Jessica noted.
"This is the best, mom!" she stood up to hug her mom, "I love you."
"I love you too," Jessica replied.
Charlotte bent back down to the puppy, "I love you too!" she picked him up and hugged him to her chest, "I'll look after you, I promise."
The puppy wriggled a little in her arms before stilling.
"I can be your mommy," Charlotte whispered, "I'll take good care of you okay, Puppy?"
The puppy looked at her happily, tail still wagging.
Charlotte pouted, "I wish he could talk," she said to her mom.
Jessica smiled, "That's why his tail wags, because he's happy."
"Yes!" Charlotte exclaimed, "And look at those big eyes, he's the most adorable little thing ever."
Jessica laughed, "No, honey, I think that would be you," she placed her hand on Charlotte's head as Charlotte put the puppy back on the ground and knelt next to him, growling at him playfully.
The puppy tilted his head at her. Charlotte growled again The puppy yapped. Charlotte giggled and the puppy yapped again.
"Yap yap," Charlotte yapped, "Did you get him some food?" she asked her mom, "We should get him some toys," she looked at the puppy, "You want some toys?"
The puppy licked at her hands.
"Yucky," Charlotte wiped her hands on her jeans as her mom rolled her eyes, "I'll get you some dolls! Probably you will chew them up but that's okay, that's what puppies do. I can show you my dolls too! You'll like them but you're not allowed to eat them, okay?"
The puppy ran around the lounge room, sniffing at the furniture curiously.
"And you can't eat my teddy!" Charlotte ordered, "Hey, puppy come back," she clapped her hands and the puppy bounded back to her, "Good puppy! Can you sit?"
The puppy just jumped all over her.
"No, no," Charlotte shook her head, "Sit! Like um, like this," she sat down, "See? Sit!"
The puppy obliviously jumped up and licked her face.
Charlotte huffed, "No, no! Sit!"
Jessica handed her a doggy treat.
"I'm not hungry…oh," Charlotte realised, "Ok! Sit!" she pushed the puppy into sitting position and gave him his treat, "Good boy! Have you got more?"
Her mom handed her the bag and over the next hour she taught her new puppy how to sit.
"Good boy!" she exclaimed, "You're so cute! Okay, now drop! Like um… like this," she lay on her stomach, "See? Like down low."
The puppy jumped on her back.
Charlotte hung her head into the floor, "No, no silly puppy," she spun around onto her back, knocking the puppy off gently.
The puppy jumped on her stomach.
Charlotte giggled and played with his ears, "Are we friends now?" she mumbled quietly, "I think we're friends now. You're my puppy and I'll always love you. You can love me too, okay? When I'm sad you can wag your tail and make me happy, okay? And when you're sad I'll hug you and play with you. And if you get sick I'll lie with you until you feel much better!"
The puppy yapped.
Charlotte growled before giggling.
"We're going to have lots of fun," Charlotte patted him on the head.
