I ran as far away as possible, my black hair blowing in the wind. this could not be happening. she would never leave me like this. the memory kept flashing back into my mind.
*Flashback*
I ran through the forest. I had to get home quickly for my mom's birthday. I got her something really special, a necklace with a locket, a picture of me and a picture of her. I looked up to see what was in front of me and I didn't like what I saw. There were cop cars everywhere. I ran as fast as I could. "Where is she?" I screamed.
An officer came up to me. "I'm sorry but unless you are Lauren Alding then we cant tell you anything." I walked forward until there was only a foot in between us and I smirked.
"My name is Lauren Alding so where. is. my. mom!" I screamed. the officer looked surprised but as quickly as it came it went away and it turned into sadness.
"I'm sorry but your mom." there was a long pause "Lauren your mom is dead and you have to go into a protection program. you will have a new identity and you will have to get a complete makeover, the killer may be after you next." this was all to much. I have heard enough. tears started forming in my eyes. my dad left me before I was even born and now my mom is gone too. I couldn't take it anymore. I sprinted back into the woods.
*End of flashback*
I had to get as far away as possible I thought. I put the necklace on and sprinted now. I didn't get too far until I tripped on a tree root and fell. I winced in pain and the officers caught up with me. I looked down at my ankle and it was already turning purple through all the blood. I tried to get up, but an officer pushed me back down. I pushed him off and ran, but only to bump into another officer, this time the officer was a girl. she caught me before I fell and she smiled at me, just how my mom used to and at the thought of my mom I started crying. I got up and hopped on one foot as fast as I could to a tree.
The lady ran over and yelled to the other men "I got her now go" they stood there not even listening "GO!" she screamed a couple of them jumped and ran, the others just shrugged and walked away. "Hey do you want to have some dinner, its really late." she asked.
"Sure" I said.
She helped me walk to the car and then said "I'll help you with the whole new identity thing" and for the first time in a while, I smiled.
