A/N: Erin Hunter's characters belong to her, not me.

He watched as Squirrelflight went off with Ashfur to go hunting. His ears twitched and his heart ached. Squirrelflight and him used to be really close but when he started getting closer to Hawkfrost it was becoming more obvious she disapproved of the two half-brothers to become closer and know each other better. Brambleclaw flattened his ears to his head and wrapped his tail around himself in a useless gesture at comforting his heartache. How could she of all cats think that because he and his half-brother were the sons of Tigerstar that they both shared his scary ambition of taking over all the clans? It had taken him a long time to get accepted by his own clan because of his father and the same went for Hawkfrost. Why couldn't she trust him?

Squirrelflight and Ashfur finally disappeared in the distance and Brambleclaw sighed. What was her sudden interest in him? She's never shown any interest in the warrior, never glanced at him he thought, but now she was spending more and more time with him meaning less and less time with Brambleclaw. His ears pricked up and twitched as he unsheathed and sheathed his claws repeatedly in agitation wanting to rake his claws through the pale gray tom. He was unworthy of Squirrelflight's attention. No one was worthy of her attention. Even himself.

That made Brambleclaw sigh again and his thoughts went back to the Hawkfrost problem with Squirrelflight. Perhaps it was worth ignoring his half-brother for if it would bring her back. That was mostly what drove her away in the first place right? Then there was the fact his father was Tigerstar, but she knew that in the beginning too and that didn't bother her then. Maybe it was only Hawkfrost that was bothering her; the reason why she avoided him like greencough.

His anger spiked suddenly. He should be able to talk to any cat he chose despite what clan he or she was in. That was what Gatherings were all about, a night to talk with other members of other clans and act like there was no warrior code while remembering there was one. If Squirrelflight couldn't deal with that, then fine! She'll just have to live with the fact he will continue to talk to Hawkfrost when he could.

With a definitive nod, Brambleclaw got up and stretched before heading off into the trees to go hunting for ThunderClan. He was feeling hungry and hunting would shake of some of his agitation and anger.
