Evangeline couldn't explain what made her fly away that night. Perhaps it was the rush of power, strength, and awe she felt when she spread open her majestic wings. Or, perhaps it was the feeling of dread she experienced when she finally realized that this was the end of her adventure in the field of angelology. And then, the main reason of why she had to fly away hit her.

She had become one of them. The creatures both she and the angelologists had abhorred. A Nephilim. The very creatures that had kidnapped, tortured, and killed so many of their valuable members. The very creatures that were so corrupted because of their incredible wealth, power, and heritage.

She knew she couldn't go back now. They would never be able to except her back into their ranks. She was now one of the creatures that they were working to destroy, to eliminate off the face of the planet. She could never go back, at least not in a time that she could forsee.

And so, she decided to fly. She would fly far off into the sky where they and her troubles couldn't find her.

And maybe, one day, she would return again and face the world.
