Only One
A/N: The main characters in this are Claudia and Johnny, and on why their sibling relationship is so important.
Claudia Zaccarah sat on the couch arm, watching her little brother sleep peacefully. It was something she hadn't done in a long time, and it was something she had deeply missed all those years when she had been in Mylan. When they where younger Johnny and Claudia had depended on eachother deeply. It was them against their crazy father and Trevor. It was them who cried themselves to sleep at night, wishing their lives were different, that they were normal.
No one else could understand,no one in their lives was more important than one another. If asked to pick only one to survive out of her and LuLu,Claudia knew he'd choose her. After all she was his sister.
Her heart had broke when she was banished from the Zaccarah mansion, not because she lost her home, all her valuables, and clothes but because she was forced to leave her baby brother.
She sighed and ran her hand over her brother's face. He had just gotten off as not guilty for Logan Hayes' murder. It had shocked the hell out of the courtroom when LuLu admitted to killing her ex in self-defense. Johnny had confessed the whole story to her before the trial. He had told Claudia how he'd found Maxie Jones passed out at Kate Howard's desk in the Crimson office and how he'd rushed back to the apartment to see his girlfriend LuLu standing over Logan's dead body, hysterical. She hated to admit it,but she thought that if she'd been in LuLu's position she'd have done the same thing.
Claudia had no idea what she'd have done if her brother had been found guilty and gotten the death penalty. She'd probably have been blood thirsty for revenge. She would always protect her brother.
She could still remember the day she left her brother. Her father had thrown her out after he found her in bed with Trevor. Claudia's whole plan of getting her father to catch her and Trevor and gettng Trevor thrown out of the house and fired. The plan hadn't worked out though. Her father did catch her with Trevor. He just hadn't gotten angry at Trevor like she had thought he would. Instead he'd blamed her, calling her a little whore and a slut and a Jezebel. He'd given her a full day to pack her bags and he'd called her Uncle and told him to expect her in Mylan. Just as she was about to leave she'd walked into Johnny's room to tell him goodbye and that she loved him. Johnny was too upset to say anything. He just sat with his knees under his chin, staring at a wall. When she tried to say goodbye,he grabbed the little toy piano he had and threw it at the wall, smashing it into tiny little pieces. And she'd just left, tears in her eyes as she told him that she loved him and got no response back.
She had tried writing her brother, but she never got any letter back. Not a single one. It was later that she realized that her father and Trevor most likely conspired to hide the letters away. That was the only explanation she had that her brother wouldn't write her back. Now fourteen years later, she and her kid brother were finally a family again. He was the only family Claudia had. She didn't know where her mother,Domenica was and her father had never been a real father to her. So Johnny was truly the only person she had.
Claudia would be damned if she'd let Anthony control her. She'd kill him before she let that happened. The meek, quiet little girl with the red tennis shoes, that had been terrified of her father was gone. In her place was this woman who knew all about the mob and could be just as vindictive as anyone. She would not be seperated from her brother ever again.
