We cling to our own point of view, as though everything depended on it. Yet our opinions have no permanence like autumn and winter, they gradually pass away

Omi kissed like an idiot. He didn't know how to kiss. He didn't know how to hold hands. He doesn't understand why it's so important.
Jack guessed it was because he was raised by old Master Fung. It made him so stiff and polite and stupid. He would be too if he was raised by smelly old monks and had no one to play with.
Jack resented him at first because Wuya always scolded him if he lost to Omi or the others. He doesn't hate him anymore…well…maybe just a little. He still hated the fact that Omi can beat him in a fair fight.
He may be small and big-headed, but he can really pack a punch. Omi was powerful, Omi was strong and Omi was capable. Everybody knew it and acknowledged it, even Chase Young himself. Jack may be a genius, but even he can't do what Omi can do.
But when Omi looked at him with that confused look on his face, he can't help feeling superior. Omi's cheeks always got red when he tried to tell him something mushy and gushy. His fingers clumsily seek his out. Jack let him hold his hand…sometimes…not really.
Despite all his knowledge and stick-in-the mud attitude, Omi was still a kid; young, weak and very stupid. He was sheltered by the monks because they know he won't last long out there. Take the New York trip as an example.
Jack, on the other hand, thought he was older and wiser. He knew what he wanted. He wanted to rule the world and have people respect him. Omi knew it and he protested and wished that they would all just get along. Hah, just like little kid, stupidly wishing for good will and all that stuff.
Jack only smiled at him with a bit of bite to his bark.
"You're a nice kid, too nice. Someday, it's gonna get you get in trouble."
"It has."
Omi counted all of the times that he had gotten in trouble for trusting too much.
"I know you and Chase are not really evil."
"Right…"
Omi frowned and thought of blank-eyed Chase.
"You know, my offer still stands. You can be my evil minion. How cool does that sound?"
Omi got sad. He doesn't like to hear those things.
Omi had honor and honesty. Jack had those things hidden away in a box somewhere. They were just too different. They can relax on this grassy knoll and they can embrace all they want, but they would still be sort-of enemies.
"I'm going to be a Xiaolin Dragon someday."
"Not before I get to be Great Overlord of the World."
"You could be a Xiaolin Dragon, too."
"Nah, you guys wear the ugliest clothes ever."
After they refuse each other's offers, Omi tended to lean against Jack.
"I wish we didn't have to be enemies."
Jack wished for that too, but he would die of embarrassment if he ever told Omi that.
"Stupid."
I imagine these two being older in this.
