But I've never written any stories about movies. So I hope you guys are going to like this! o-o Warning! There is going to be mild cussing in this story. You have been warned.
Disclaimer: I do not own Big Hero 6.
(This part of the story takes place during the fire at SFIT)
Chapter 1: Concussion or more?
Tadashi and Hiro ran to the burning building. Tadashi noticed a woman stumbling out of the building and ran up to her.
"Are you alright?" Tadashi asked as Hiro stood next to him. She coughed before answering.
"Yeah… But professor Callaghan is still in there." She said, pointing towards the inferno.
Tadashi ran over to the building, ready to run in and save professor Callaghan, until someone held a firm grip on his arm.
"Tadashi no!" He heard his brother scream.
Tadashi turned his head towards Hiro and saw his little brother's pleading look.
"Callaghan's still in there, someone has to help!" Tadashi screams above the growls of the flames. He manages to pull his arm out of his brother's firm grip, and starts running on the stairs.
"NO Tadashi! Don't leave me!" He hears his brother scream.
Tadashi was too focused on saving the professor that he didn't notice his brother running after him.
"Tadashi stop!" Hiro yelled, he pulled Tadashi backwards and Tadashi stumbled off the stairs. He stood up with a loud grunt, but luckily he didn't break anything. Hiro slowly walked down the stairs, coughing a bit because he inhaled some smoke from standing so close to the building.
"Hiro! What the heck were you th-" But Tadashi's sentence was interrupted by a loud explosion as the two Hamada brothers were send flying backwards. Both falling into unconsciousness.
Tadashi was the first one to come to. He slowly sat up and turned himself to the burning building, thinking about how his favourite professor died in there and that he didn't manage to save him. He stayed like that for a split second, until it hit him…
Hiro.
Tadashi quickly snapped his head left and right, no sign of Hiro. He looked back at the inferno, did he…? Tadashi thought. NO! He was send flying backwards just like you Tadashi! He couldn't have been burned, stop thinking like that! He told himself.
But if Hiro wasn't in the inferno, nor left or right of him. Then that meant….
Tadashi slowly turned his back to the inferno as he now could see what was happening behind him.
At first, he couldn't see anything but the stars and the sky. Until suddenly, a glimpse of dark blue was seen on the, now orange lighted, floor. Tadashi's head snapped to the dark blue colour, as he could now make it out as a hoody. Hiro's hoody…
"HIRO!" Tadashi screamed as he rushed over to his brother.
He kneeled down beside Hiro, and gently shook his shoulders.
"Hiro…?" He asked.
No response.
Tadashi shook Hiro's shoulders even harder.
"Hiro?!" He asked, desperate of hearing his brother's voice. Though, Hiro's body remained limp. Tadashi rolled Hiro onto his back, and he gasped as he saw Hiro's face. It was pale and he had a few cuts and bruises on his cheeks. But what startled Tadashi most, was the big wound on Hiro's forehead. Something must've connected with it when he hit the ground. Tadashi thought.
He looked around, if maybe the object was still near Hiro, and saw a big block of metal with some blood on it laying a few feet away from them.
Oh no…
"Hiro? Hiro?!" Tadashi started to freak out. His brother's body remained limp and pale no matter how much Tadashi screamed Hiro's name.
Tadashi quickly put two fingers on Hiro's neck searching for a pulse. There was one, but it was weak.
Tadashi thought for a moment, he could let the ambulance people take him, but it's almost a thirty-minute drive to the hospital and Hiro could be dead by then. Or he could bring Hiro home and let Baymax take care of him; the drive home was a ten-minute drive.
Tadashi chose the latter and picked his limp brother up bridal style.
"Please be ok Hiro…" Tadashi mumbled concerned.
When they arrived at his Moped, Tadashi wasn't sure of what to do. Should he place Hiro in front on his lap, or should he carry him on his back? Tadashi decided to not think of it yet, He placed Hiro into as much as a sitting position an unconscious person could sit like, and put on his helmet. Though it was pretty difficult because Hiro's head kept on lolling to the side.
Eventually Tadashi managed to put on the helmet on his brother, and decided to put his on. Just for a second Tadashi forgot that his brother was unconscious, and he let go of him. Tadashi aimed for his helmet as he heard a loud thud.
What was that? Tadashi thought for a moment. Then when he noticed he held nothing else but his helmet, it hit him.
"Hiro!" Tadashi quickly ran to the side where Hiro fell off and sighed in relief. Hiro was wearing his helmet. Tadashi sat him up again, and quickly put on his own helmet. After that, he picked up Hiro and decided to place him on his lap.
"Let's go otouto." Tadashi said soothingly and drove off.
When Tadashi arrived at the Lucky Cat Café, His friends and Aunt Cass were sitting at a table, all smiling and laughing.
Then, Tadashi saw Aunt Cass picking up her phone because someone was calling her. Her smile faded almost immediately and she dropped the phone to the ground.
Someone must've called her about the fire. Tadashi thought. He decided it was best that he'd go inside and tell Aunt Cass he was all right, though how was he going to explain what happened to Hiro? He shrugged it off and decided to just walk inside and see what happened.
Tadashi carefully lifted up Hiro who, still, hasn't shown any movement. Not even a groan, or a grunt. Even his breathing was silent.
Tadashi saw Aunt Cass falling to the ground as his friends rushed over to her. She was crying loudly, and Tadashi was almost near the door.
"Ringgg!" It sounded through the café.
Five heads snapped at Tadashi and Hiro at the same time. Everyone was silent for a second until Aunt Cass broke it.
"Thank goodness you guys are-" She said while jumping up and rushing over to the two brothers, though she stopped once she saw the youngest Hamada unconscious in his older brother's hands.
"W-what happened?" She asked as she slowly approached the two.
Tadashi tried to explain, he really did! It just looked like he couldn't. He couldn't say: that because of his stubbornness, his brother could be killed. He couldn't say that he tried to save someone, who was probably already dead, and almost killed himself for it. He couldn't say how much of an idiot he was, and that it ended up with his little brother being injured.
"God dammit Tadashi! What were you guys thinking?!" Aunt Cass suddenly screamed at him. Though when he looked at her, he could see the concern in her eyes.
"Why didn't you wait for the medics to take him?!" She screamed again.
Tadashi glanced at his friends, whom were all watching in confusion. Not knowing what they were talking about, or what happened.
"Answer me!" Aunt Cass yelled again.
"I…I-I tried to save the professor…and Hiro tried to stop me…b-but I ignored him…a-and I ran to the building…when suddenly H-Hiro pushed me off the stairs…I was about to tell him how much of an idiot he was for letting the professor die in there…when suddenly…the whole…building…" Tadashi couldn't say it; he didn't want to say it. He didn't want to think of it anymore. He couldn't get the image of his brother lying motionless on the ground anymore.
"…it…just…"
Tadashi fell to his knees, not able to take the pressure anymore.
"The medics would've come too late! He would've been dead before we'd reach the hospital! And it would've been all my fault!" Tadashi started sobbing in his unconscious brother's shirt.
"You guys don't understand!" He screamed.
"You don't know what it was like!" He started sobbing harder. When he suddenly felt a warm hand being laid on his shoulder. He looked up to see his Aunt smiling soothingly at him.
"I'm sorry for screaming at you like that. You're right, we don't know what it was like, and I hope we never will. But you had to let the medics take Hiro to a hospital. They could've helped him. Now we're clueless." She says silently.
"No we're not. I have Baymax. He's in my room. That's why I came here. Baymax could help Hiro much faster than the medics could've." Aunt Cass nodded in understanding and asked Honey Lemon to get Baymax.
It was silent for a moment, until the silence was broken by a small groan.
"…hm…" Tadashi's head snapped to Hiro's eyes.
"Hiro? Hiro can you hear me? Hiro?" Tadashi said quickly as he tapped his brother's cheek slowly.
Slowly, Hiro's eyes started to open. But only halfway. Hiro looked up at Tadashi.
"…Nii-san…" Hiro managed to croak out. It looked like he was having trouble keeping his eyes open.
"Yes, it's me Otouto! Nii-san's here. Don't worry, you'll be alright!" Tadashi assured Hiro, as he stroked his little brother's hair. As Tadashi tried to keep Hiro awake, Aunt Cass was enlightening Tadashi's friends about the fire at SFIT. Then honey came running down.
"I've got Baymax!" She said excitedly.
Tadashi's head snapped up.
"Baymax scan Hiro!" He ordered.
The big Marshmallow-robot turned to the 14-year old and started scanning him.
"Hiro appears to have a severe head injury or concussion. Symptoms are:
Changes in alertness and consciousness
Confusion that does not go away
Seizures
Muscle weakness on one or both sides
Pupils of the eyes that are not equal in size
Unusual eye movements
Repeated vomiting, Walking or balance problems
Unconsciousness for a longer period of time or that continues (coma).
Head injuries that cause a concussion often occur with injury to the neck and spine. Take special care when moving people who have had a head injury." The big marshmallow-sized robot explained.
Everybody nodded in understanding. "How long does recovering take Baymax?" Tadashi asked concerned.
"Healing or recovering from a concussion takes time. It may take days to weeks, or even months. During that time he may:
Be withdrawn, easily upset, or confused
Have a hard time with tasks that require memory or concentration
Have mild headaches
Be less tolerant of noise
Be very tired
Feel dizzy
or Have blurry vision at times.3 Baymax explained again, holding up his robot finger.
"When do we need to call a paramedic?" Aunt Cass asked concerned.
"If symptoms do not go away or are not improving after 2 or 3 weeks
Call the doctor right away if the following symptoms occur:
Increased sleepiness or difficulty waking up
Stiff neck
Changes in behavior or unusual behavior
Changes in speech, which includes it being slurred, difficult to understand, does not make sense
Confusion or problems thinking straight
Double vision or blurred vision
Fever
Fluid or blood leaking from the nose or ears
Headache that is getting worse, lasts a long time, or does not get better with over-the-counter pain relievers
Problems walking or talking
Seizures such as jerking of the arms or legs without control
Vomiting more than three times." Baymax says as he shows some pictures of a concussion.
"I recommend letting Hiro stay awake until he has enough fluids in his system." Baymax advises.
"Thanks Baymax, I am satisfied with my care." And with that, the robot inflates again.
Tadashi turns his attention back to Hiro, when he notices his eyes are slowly closing.
"No, no, no, no, no. Hiro? Hiro stay with me buddy. You need to stay awake a little longer ok?" Tadashi says as he gently taps Hiro's cheek. The teenager jolts awake and looks around confused.
"Where am I?"
So, how was that? Ok, I know Baymax's explanation of Hiro's concussion is long, but please read it entirely. Or not, but then the symptoms will come as a surprise to you. :D I hope you all liked it! Should I continue or not? Please review your thoughts! :D Ok, hopefully I catch-you later guys! :3
