One day, Shikamaru was watching the clouds, as he always did. The clouds were moving at their normal, lethargic pace across the sky. He was lying on the ground staring at them when he heard someone come up behind him.
"Ino, if that's you, no I'm not interested."
"Well, guess what. I'm not Ino," said the annoyingly familiar voice.
Shikamaru groaned, guessing who the speaker was already. He rolled onto his stomach and said, "Today was a perfect day…then you came along. My day is ruined."
"Gees, it's only one day out of the thousands you have. Get over it."
Shikamaru was sure he knew the person now. He lifted himself to his elbows to look at the girl. "Thank you, Temari, for reminding me. I'd almost forgotten."
Temari grinned and responded, "You're welcome."
"So, Temari, what brings you out on this beautiful, peaceful day?"
"Oh, nothing much. Just the usual. Torture everyone in sight, especially geniuses staring at clouds."
"Ha ha. That's so clever. I'm about to die of laughter."
"I didn't really remember you being this sarcastic."
"It has been a few years. Things change."
"Yeah. Guess I shoulda been here."
"Couldn't ask you to do that. You belong in Suna."
Temari didn't answer; she only placed herself on the grass next to Shikamaru and stared up at the clouds. The same clouds that had once traveled over Suna and the lone desert.
Neither knew how long they had stayed there. They didn't notice the time. They only noticed the shifting of the clouds and the strings of water vapor that were so responsive to the wind.
When the sun had reached the peak of the sky, Shikamaru decided that he must seem awfully boring to Temari. So he stood up and offered his hand to Temari. "Here."
She grabbed his hand and pulled herself up.
"So, you want to do something for lunch?" Shikamaru asked.
"Sorry. I have to meet my team instead." Temari actually sounded disappointed over the loss of a meal with Shikamaru.
"Oh, well. Maybe next time."
"Okay." She started to turn away. She walked a few steps, paused, and walked back to Shikamaru.
Then, Temari stretched up onto her toes and kissed him.
When they finally separated a minute later, Shikamaru only had one question. "Why?"
"You weren't going to make the first move anyways," she answered bluntly. Then she walked away as if nothing had happened.
Troublesome woman, Shikamaru thought as he laid back down on the grass. He tried to focus on the clouds again, but, suddenly, that didn't seem possible.

Don't we all love OOC-ness? I do! It's so much easier to write!
The link to the picture that inspired this story is on my page, toward the bottom if you want to check it out. The song that inspired this is 'My First Kiss.'
Review if you want more first kiss stories for all couples I see fit. I'm not doing crack pairings because most of them scare me.
Ciao!
