Yay my first published Blue Exorcist story! This was one that suffered the fate of being passionately worked on until half done and then being stuffed in the back of my notebook for a year. I found it the other day and was like 'Hey I remember this!' and finished it. And since I really liked it, it's being posted here. I'll start the second chapter soon. This is going to be relatively short, like maybe six chapters but the chapters will be longer than my usual chapters. This takes place during the True Cross Festival arc, before the Illuminati came in.

As usual, overall disclaimer for the whole story: I DO NOT OWN BLUE EXORCIST, AN AMAZING WOMAN BY THE NAME OF KAZUE KATO DOES!

Chapter One

Cyan flames danced wildly over the rooftop, ravenously consuming everything in their path as though they craved death and destruction as much as their master. Coal Tars flooded the streets below, and these weren't the ordinary green-eyed docile creatures, these were monsters with narrowed fuschia eyes and wide malicious grins. Naberii and ghouls of all kinda ran amuck. Students and civilians screamed and ran, terrified at the random bleeding wounds appearing on their bodies and the sudden appearance of the hellish beasts. Up on the roof of True Cross Academy, the blue fire raged on.

"Suguro!" Rin screamed. "This is our chance!"

The other boy looked at him like he was crazy. "What the hell are you saying?! We can't defeat that!" Pointing at the maniacally laughing demon several paces from his friend in obvious terror, Suguro took several shaky steps back. What was he thinking, all his life saying that he would defeat Satan? Was he crazy?

Satan grinned. "Now my son, you don't really mean that do you? Don't you love your dear old papa?"

Rin snarled in response, flames lighting up on his own body. "You are not my father! My father was Shiro Fujimoto and you killed him!"

"So dramatic, reallynow surely we can put that behind us? A simple bad memory of the past, that's what he can become!"

A mangled shriek of fury ripped from Rin's mouth. "HOW DARE YOU!" He unsheathed the Kurikara, dashing forward and preparing to strike. In the split second where Rin reared back his arm to put more force into the blow, Satan adopted a bored expression and reached out. As the katana slashed through the air toward him, the lord of demons grabbed his son's hand.

Miniscule cracking and popping noises reached Suguro's ears and he watched in horror as Rin's knees buckled, howling in agony as his hand was crushed in his biological father's fist. When his grip was released, Rin's right hand was completely black and blue. Blood oozed from breaks in the skin where tiny white splinters of what used to be bone stabbed through. His fingernails were cracked and falling off; his thumbnail had already fallen off and the whole finger was red and sticky with blood.

Suguro retched at the sight of the smashed and sunken hand, head turning in a terrible mistake, allowing him to see what he had been tying to forget. Konekomaru was motionless in a pool of his own blood. Shima was faintly twitching, but his legs were at odd angles and Suguro doubted he would ever be able to walk right ever again, if he didn't bleed to death first. Moriyama and Kamiki were tossed aside like useless ragdolls, each unconscious but bleeding badly from serious wounds. Summoning papers lay in torn bits around them; a ruined chalk summoning circle housed the charred corpse of a nine-tailed kitsune. The summon had been a major effort on Kamiki's part but Satan had paid it no heed before viciously barbecuing it with a blast of fire.

Kirigakure-sensai had been possessed for a few seconds and she lay in a comatose state. Suguro still couldn't believe how Rin had sobbed when his mentor was the one engulfed in those blue flames, sporting demonic attributes and cackling like a madman. His desperate scream echoed in his ears.

Looking back at him now, glaring furiously up at the possessed Arthur Auguste Angel, Suguro could see just how tough Rin was. Seriously, that guy was a bulldozer, plowing down every enemy that crossed his path. But of course, if Rin was a bulldozer than Satan was a tank, blindly dominating and obliterating everything, be it demon or human. Satan didn't care whether they were friend or foe, if they rubbed him the wrong way he wouldn't hesitate to incinerate them.

Would he do the same to his own son? From the looks of it he was about to do so, and Suguro felt stupid for doubting the ruthlessness of the lord of demons.

Satan had Rin in a headlock with one arm and was carrying the Kurikara in his other hand. Rin was screaming at the top of his lungs as Satan's flames wrapped around him, the much stronger power easily overpowering his own and burning him. Suguro suddenly unfroze and sprinted forward, scooping up Shima's staff and charging the flame-spewing monster from hell.

"Leave him alone!" He shouted, chucking the staff. It bounced uselessly off of Satan's forehead. Cussing, he swiftly recited a few lines from the Bible, but it didn't do much more than make the devil's eyebrow twitch.

"Foolish child, do not antagonize me while I hold your friend." Satan said warningly as be made his way towards the Gehenna Gate. Rin struggled and stared at him wild-eyed and scared.

"Suguro!" Rin choked out. "Don't-"

"Shut up Okumura! Don't tell me what to do! Now, I'm going to save you whether you like it or not!" Suguro started reciting the Genesis. He wasn't sure if it would do anything but a story about God's creation of the Earth and humanity seemed as good a place to start as any.

For one glorious minute, Suguro thought it was working. Satan flinched and the flames flickered, but the sudden appearance of none other than Mephisto Pheles ruined everything. The demon king slashed through the Gate, effectively destroying it. Satan regained his composure, straightening up as he regarded his second-oldest son.

"Samael..." He chuckled. "So. The rumors are true. You have allied yourselves with the exorcists. How pathetic."

Mephisto grinned, twirling his umbrella. His gaze slid past Satan to settle on the darkness behind him. "Amaimon, why don't you stop hiding, come on out and play with the adults." He spoke in a cheery, lilting tone. The shadows shifted and the Earth King emerged.

"Hello big brother." Amaimon greeted casually as he dropped into a battle-ready stance. Sky blue eyes, almost reminiscent to the hellfire that surrounded them, stared emotionlessly up at Mephisto's blank face.

"Really now Amaimon, you're not going to fight me. Drop this silly charade and come over here." Mephisto drawled, tilting his head to the side in a lazy challenge. Amaimon barely had time to hesitate before Mephisto continued. "What has he ever done for you? I have given you everything."

Nothing more needed to be said. Amaimon straightened up and moved to flank Mephisto without even a blink. Satan bristled. "I gave you your title! I gave you power!" He shrieked furiously.

"Big brother has given me freedom. I like it here in Assiah. It's so much more fun." Amaimon said.

Satan bristled, his grip on Rin tightening. The black-haired teen coughed and gagged, eyes watering as he struggled to breathe. His flames danced weakly over his body but they did nothing to the much stronger blaze of Satan. His screams had long since died down to weak pitiful noises in the back of his throat as his skin broiled under the heat of Satan's fire. Suguro lurched forward, clapping his hands together and chanting a sutra that would render its target immobile.

It proved to be useless, but while he recited the sutra, Mephisto tore off his billowing white jacket, letting it flutter away on the breeze until it caught fire in one if the patches of flame. Without the burden the extra fabric provided, he moved more nimbly and swiftly than normally. He dashed forward, extending claws that were not there before, baring long fangs in his characteristic grin, only this one much more evil.

Eyes narrowed, Satan met him blow for blow, dropping Rin. At this moment Yukio materialized from the shadows between the flame pockets. With this newest intrusion, Satan let out an animalistic roar and the flames grew to completely barricade them in. Yukio wasted no time in rushing over to his fallen twin and helping him up.

"Rin! Are you okay? What happened to your hand? Why isn't it healing? You're all burnt, what happened?" Yukio babbled stupidly in his frantic daze. Rin shook his head wordlessly and collapsed on his next step. The younger twin tugged at his arm, uselessly trying to revive the unconscious half-demon. Yukio looked back at the fight between Satan, Mephisto, and Amaimon as Suguro ran over to assist him.

It had barely been a few minutes, yet the Paladin's body was charring. Without a moment's thought, Satan abruptly abandoned Angel's body and the next thing he knew Amaimon was screaming. It quickly died down to pained whimpers that blew up into more insane laughter as Satan rejoiced over his newest, stronger host.

The Hell King lunged at Mephisto, effectively cornering him in four walls of deadly flame. If the preceptor moved in any direction, he would be instantly incinerated. Satisfied, Satan turned away from him, laughing hysterically as he slashed open his arm and poured blood out over the rooftop, chanting ancient words as slowly a new Gehenna Gate formed before him.

Satan cleared his way with a spurt of flame at Yukio and Suguro. He picked up Rin by the tail and flung him like worthless trash into the Gate's depths. The Kurikara met its end next, smashed under his foot before he left Amaimon's body and returned to Gehenna. The Gate swallowed up Rin completely and continued to belch out demons to terrorize them, and there was nothing Yukio could do but watch.

This was shotter than planned. Oh well, it was four pages in my notebook so I'm happy. I'll try yo make the next chapter six pages. Til next time, I bid you adieu!
