Eowyn's Broken Heart

Disclaimer: Tolkien and New Line Cinema own Lord of the Rings. I don't.

"I'm sorry Eowyn, but my heart belongs to another," Aragorn said to her.

Hearing those words made her heart break into a thousand pieces. Not wanting anyone to see her upset, she held back her tears and ran to her tent.

As soon as she entered her tent, she threw herself on her bedroll and started to cry her heart out. Her pain was deep. The one that she loved rejected her.

"How could he reject me?" she thought. "That elf woman is leaving for Valinor," he told me so himself. How can he still be in love with her? Don't I count for anything? Don't I mean anything to him? Here I am giving my heart to him and he throws it back into my face."

Those thoughts made her cry even harder. She felt lonely and rejected. She thought she would never be able to love again.

At that moment a knock was heard on her tent.

"Can you please go away? I don't want to be bothered at this time," she called out.

"It's me, your uncle."

She opened her tent flap and let him in. Theoden noticed the tears in her eyes.

"I came here to give you my help."

"I'm alright uncle," she said.

"No you are not, I saw you run in here looking very upset. Now tell me what's wrong," he said to her gently.

"It's Aragorn, he doesn't care about me."

"Yes he does, he cares a great deal about you."

"Not in the way I want him to."

"Eowyn, sweetheart, I know this is hard on you."

"You don't know how I feel," she said angrily.

"Listen you think Aragorn is the only one you will ever love, and that you will never be happy, but you will get over your feelings for him and fall for someone else. You'll see."

"No uncle I'll never love another."

Theoden's felt pity for Eowyn. He took her in his arms held and rocked her gently until she was all cried out. Then he got up.

"Eowyn there is some business that I have to take care of will you be alright."

"I'll be fine father, and thank you.

Theoden left her tent and Eowyn decided to put her mind on other things.
