UNDERCOVER
The Titans loved being heroes. But in those rare moments, when the world didn't need saving and there wasn't an awe-inspiring heroic feat all over the news, they liked to blend in with the normal folk and lead somewhat normal lives. Cyborg's technology wasn't just handy for missions; it was great for civilian disguises. At Robin's request, he created an extra three rings, special to each other Titan. Beast Boy was the one who used it the most; his frequent trips to the comic book and video game stores were hampered by obnoxious, autograph demanding fans and fangirls who didn't know the definition of personal space, so looking like a normal civilian was instrumental.
Today was one of those rare days, where crime that warranted superhero attention was non-existent, and the Titans could afford a bit of time to rock their civvies. Dressed in top-sider boat shoes, khaki shorts and a buttoned up Hawaiian shirt, Garfield Logan caught a look at himself in the reflection of the glass windows right outside. He was very proud of his surfer look; rich, tan skin and blond hair.
The doorbells jingled and in walked Gar, who directly went towards the NEW ISSUES section, immediately grabbing the latest three issues of Ratman. Eager to catch up where he left off, he cruised towards the back end of the store, where the patronage was scarce and the luxurious leather chairs were provided. He noticed that he wasn't going to be alone; in fact, someone was sitting there in his very favorite spot! She was nose deep in a Pretty Pretty Pegasus comic. He frowned, and prepared himself for a confrontation, even though he knew how petty it was.
"Excuse me? I don't know you and I don't think I've ever seen you before, but you're in my spot and I... uhhh..." Gar's jaw nearly hit the floor when the person who was occupying his seat lowered her comic and raised an eyebrow at him. Her hair was jet black, and her skin was a fair porcelain. Her unzipped black bomber jacket complemented her dark blue jeans, and every article of clothing she had seemed to hug her curvy form. There was no doubt about it.
It was Raven in her human disguise. And she was 100% gorgeous.
"Even dressed as a normal human being, you still seem to find a way to get and wear the ugliest clothes possible." she muttered. Clearly, Raven knew that he was Beast Boy right away.
Garfield's mouth turned upwards in a slight smile. "Oh come on, you know I look fly, Raaaayyy..." he trailed off, waiting for Raven to finish the sentence so he could get her civilian name.
"-Chel. Rachel Roth. Nice to meet you." She narrowed her eyes, adding extra sarcasm to her last few words. Garfield was used to her deadpan way of talking, however, and he was completely unaffected – in fact, his smile seemed to grow wider. He stuck out a hand, which Rachel stared at. "Garfield Logan. The pleasure's all mine, mama." He wiggled his eyebrows at the last comment. Rachel rolled her eyes and half-heartedly shook his hand, cursing the fact that her cheeks were burning with embarrassment. "If I promise to laugh at all of your stupid jokes, would you please never, ever call me Mama again?" she asked. Garfield simply laughed in response. "Sure thing, Rae-Rae." he grinned at her, ignoring her fiery stare and equally frightening growl. He couldn't help it; getting to give Raven a hard time without being sent head-first into a wall was a rare opportunity.
Out of the 6+ seats in the vicinity, Garfield chose the one right next to Rachel's, much to her chagrin. Other than that, however, the two were silently enjoying each other's company, fully immersed in their stories. Garfield thought about making a joke about how the mysterious and intimidating Raven was a Pretty Pretty Pegasus fan, but he kept his mouth shut, not wanting to push his luck with the prior teasing.
After a while, Garfield closed the last issue up and stood up, stretching. "Well," he announced, "I think it's time for Garfield Logan to hit the road." he turned around to look at Rachel, smiling. "Catch you on the flip side, Mama." He was on his way to leave, but he stopped in his tracks when Rachel called his name out.
"Garfield."
He turned around and raised his eyebrows.
"Despite the stupid nicknames you give me... our time together was actually... pretty enjoyable." She looked everywhere but at him.
"Thanks a lot, Rachel. That means a lot coming from you." His smile had no trace of mischief; it was 100% genuine. That was short lived however, as it returned to its original form. "Does that mean I can keep calling you mama? Or even better; Rae-rae?" More eyebrow wiggling. Raven suppressed the strong urge to manifest her dark energy into a giant fist that would punch Beast Boy through every single wall and window, but she instead grumbled and settled for a firm "Don't push your luck.".
