Hello, everyone. My first Knight School fanfiction!

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

"So what do you kids want for breakfast?" a short, round blonde woman asked the two kids sitting at the kitchen table.

"Eggs!" the girl- around the age of seventeen- answered.

"Chocolate!" the boy- around the age of fifteen- joked.

"No chocolate for breakfast," the woman replied with a slight laugh. "Eggs, it is. Miranda, would you please feed Emmeline while I make breakfast?"

"Sure, Mom," Miranda replied, lifting a tiny baby (no more than a few weeks old) out of a cradle. "Come here, Emmy. Arc, hand me her bottle, would you?"

"What's the magic word?" her brother asked, picking up the baby bottle.

"Please?" Miranda drawled.

"Actually," Arc chirped, "the magic word was Wozow! but I appreciate the effort," he laughed, handing her the bottle.

Miranda accepted the bottle and place the rubber piece into Emmeline's mouth, and the baby eagerly began to suck the formula down.

"Somebody's hungr-" an older man chuckled as he entered the room, but before he could finish that statement, a loud bang sounded, and the door bounced off the wall.

The family of five jumped, and Emmeline began to wail, loudly.

"Everybody on the ground!" a man yelled as multiple soldiers burst into the room with swords and daggers and shields. The mother and father immediately fell to their knees and laid on the floor of their small house with their hands planted in front of them. Miranda, still holding Emmeline, and Arc remained frozen in shock.

"I. Said. Get. On. The. Ground," the man growled, grabbing Miranda by the shoulder and throwing her to the ground. Her knees banged against the floor, and she cried out as she leaned her upper body over Emmeline, protecting the baby with everything she had, which, against these people, wasn't much.

"Don't hurt them!" Arc cried out as the man raised his hand to slap Miranda. The boy grabbed the man's hand, but the man pushed Arc away as though he were no more than a pesky insect.

"On the ground, boy!" the man snarled.

Arc continued to stand protectively in front of Miranda.

"On the ground!" the man repeated, spit flying onto Arc's face.

"Kids, do what they say!" the father of the family cried out.

"Please!" their mother added, sounding close to tears.

Arc stared into the man's face for another moment before raising his hands in the air to show he wasn't going to try anything and lowered himself to his knees before flattening himself out on his stomach across the floor of their home.

That day, the small village of Seejay was captured by Riker's army, and it remains in his grasp to this day.

That was three months ago, and Arc had managed to slip away from the village of Seejay and travel to Astoria, where he joined Knight School. The only one who knew he wasn't a true Dragon Blood was Ciara, but she didn't tell anyone because she had a pretty big secret herself: she was actually the princess, but since her father refused to let her become a knight, she used her Pixie Ring to transform herself into a warrior, and she attended Knight School, not as the princess, but as a great warrior named Ciara.

This day was like any other… but that was about to change.

Arc smacked the flat of his blade against Ciara's sword and flipped through the air, hurtling himself sideways and twisting his sword around Ciara's until she had no choice but to loosen her grip. The sword flew through the air and landed perfectly in Arc's hand as he landed.

"I win!" he bragged.

"I call a rematch!" Ciara declared.

"You're on!" Arc agreed, and he returned her weapon. They readied their swords, but right before their match was about to begin, a sudden shout rang through the courtyard.

"Sir Gareth!" Prudy shouted as she darted through the courtyard with Warwick on her heels. She was holding a woven basket in her arms, and Arc and Ciara could see a bundle of colorful blankets inside of the basket.

"Yes, Prudy?" Sir Gareth asked, walking unevenly on his mostly metal legs over to her.

"We found this basket outside the Phoenix Squad Room," Warwick explained. "We weren't sure what it was at first, but when we moved the blankets…"

Prudy held the basket close to the teacher, and Warwick shifted the blankets to display whatever was inside.

A small whine sounded. A very human whine.

"It's a baby," Sir Gareth gasped. He thought nothing could surprise him anymore, but someone abandoning a baby at Knight School? That was a new one.

"There's a note," Prudy realized as Arc and Ciara crossed the courtyard to stand beside their teacher and fellow Squad members. She handed a scroll to Sir Gareth, and he squinted with his one good eye to read the small print on the rolled up parchment.

"It's addressed to Arc," he murmured before handing the parchment over.

"Me?" Arc asked as he accepted the scroll, and he unrolled it.

"It's blank," Ciara realized as they stared at the completely blank parchment.

"It may not be," Arc replied. "There's only one person I know who would send me a seemingly blank parchment."

Arc fished a necklace out from under his shirt, and he stared at the small cylinder dangling from the chain. His sister had made it before he'd left for Knight School, and there was a picture of their family rolled up inside of it, but it was also a magical flashlight. She wouldn't be able to write often, but if she ever needed to, she would write in a magical ink that could only be seen with the flashlight around Arc's neck.

Arc clicked it on and watched as a soft purple beam of light rested on the parchment. Words immediately appeared, and Arc moved the light across the page as he read the letter from the sister he hadn't seen or heard from in nearly a month.

Dearest Brother,

It is getting more dangerous in Seejay by the hour. Mom and Dad have been locked up, and it is quite possible that I will be next. Ever since Riker captured our village, it hasn't been safe, but it is getting worse by the minute, and it is not possible for our baby sister to remain in Seejay any longer. I know it is not ideal, but she is much safer with you in Astoria. I'm not sure if you can take care of her while attending Knight School, but I didn't have any other choice. I don't even want to think what Riker will do to Emmeline if Mom, Dad, and I are locked up, and you are no where to be found.

Please take care of Emmy. I will return for her as soon as I can, but I can't promise that I will be able to any time soon. Seejay is too dangerous for anyone, much less a baby. Please take care of her and protect her.

I love Emmeline, and I love you, Arc. Never forget that, no matter what happens.

Stay safe. Stay brave. Stay hopeful.

Love,

Miranda

"Who's the baby?" Warwick asked.

Arc reached into the basket in Prudy's arms and cradled the whining baby in his arms. She immediately stopped whimpering and smiled, recognizing the touch of her big brother, even after so many months without him.

He recognized her sparkling blue eyes, so much like his own. He recognized the happy expression that came over her face when she saw him. He recognized the feel of her tiny hand wrapping around his.

There was no denying it. This was Emmeline, without a doubt.

"Who is she, Arc?" Ciara pressed.

Arc licked his lips, nervously, and tried not to cry at the thought of his parents being imprisoned and his older sister still being in that dangerous village with no one around to protect her or comfort her. And now the responsibility of taking care of, protecting, and raising Emmeline for what could be several months was resting on Arc's shoulders.

"She's my little sister," he answered.

"Why is she here?" Prudy asked.

Arc swallowed.

"I have to take care of her now," he responded. "She has no one else…"

He turned back to the baby in his arms.

"It will all be okay, Emmy," he whispered. "It will all be okay…"

Emmeline's eyes twinkled, as though to tell him that she believed him.

If only Arc could believe himself…

"Why would your sister just leave her here?" Warwick asked as the four students walked into the Phoenix Squad Room.

"I think it's about time you told them," Ciara advised. "I'll tell them my secret if you tell them yours."

"What secrets?" Prudy asked. "Tell us what?"

Arc sighed. "You know how people can only become knights if they're dragon bloods?"

Prudy and Warwick nodded.

"Well… I'm not a dragon blood," Arc admitted. "I lied my way into Knight School, but it was only because my home land was captured by Riker's Army. The only way I can save my people and my family is by becoming a knight of Astoria."

Warwick laughed. "Why didn't you just tell us that? We wouldn't have turned you in. Prudy and I always thought that Dragon Blood rule was stupid anyway. You shouldn't have to be a dragon blood to defend the kingdom. I always thought the more knights we have, the better, and if some aren't dragon bloods… why should that matter?"

"I agree," Prudy said "Now, what about you, Ciara? You said you had a secret."

Ciara sighed before tapping her Pixie ring. In a glimmer of light, her armor became a dress, and her hair straightened. Make up was scattered across her face, and a tiara was balanced on her head.

"Princess!" Warwick shouted before dropping to one knee.

"Calm down, Warwick," the princess laughed before tapping her ring again and transforming back into Ciara. "It's just me. My Pixie Ring can transform me, and since the king won't let me become a knight, I used my ring to get into knight school."

"And you two didn't tell us this but told each other because…" Prudy trailed off.

"We weren't even planning on telling each other," Arc told them. "I found out her secret, and she found out mine. By accident. We didn't tell you because it was better for everyone. We could get kicked out of knight school, so the less people know about it, the better. We trust you guys, but if you two knew our secrets and didn't turn us in, you could get kicked out of Knight School, too. We weren't willing to risk that."

"Okay. I understand the secrets and all that, but why did your sister drop off the baby?" Prudy asked.

"My parents have been imprisoned, and she might be next. It's getting more dangerous in Seejay by the day. She couldn't risk Riker getting his hands on Emmeline if she were ever imprisoned. Emmeline is much safer here," Arc explained. "If anyone asks, my parents are knights and are protecting the kingdom. My sister is going away to battle, so she dropped Emmeline off with me."

Arc sighed as he sat in one of the numerous chairs in the Squad Room.

"It's not like it matters, though," Arc muttered. "Sir Gareth won't let me raise a baby while I'm attending school."

Warwick smiled. "Maybe he won't, but the knight school rule book might, and he has to follow whatever the book says."

Warwick crossed the room and stood in front of the book shelf.

"Knight school rule book!" he called, and a book shot out of the book shelf, and he groaned as it collided with his stomach before thumping to the floor.

Emmeline giggled in Arc's arms, making Arc laugh harder.

"We are going to read this thing from cover to cover and see if we find anything," Ciara proposed as she rested the book on the table in the center of the Squad Room and opened it to page one.

"Arc to the courtyard!" a man ordered as he stepped into the Phoenix Squad Room. "Sir Gareth wants you immediately."

"That's my cue," Arc murmured. "Moment of truth. Prudy, can you watch Emmeline until I get back?"

Prudy nodded, and Arc stepped out of the room, heading for the courtyard.

"Sir Gareth, you wanted to see me?" Arc asked as he found the mostly metal man standing in the courtyard.

"Yes," the man replied. "Why is your sister here? You ran off without explaining it to me," he added, sternly.

Arc nodded. "I apologize, sir. My parents are protecting the kingdom, and my sister will soon be going to battle. I'm the only one my baby sister has left."

"What are you going to do?" Sir Gareth asked.

"Well, I can't just abandon her," Arc pointed out.

"Well, you can't raise her while you're attending school," Sir Gareth pointed out.

"Yes, he can!"

The two of them turned at Warwick's exclamation, and the other members of Phoenix Squad raced over. Ciara was holding the rule book open while Prudy cradled Emmeline in her arms.

"There's a section of the book that was used for teen mothers and fathers and drop outs who later returned to knight school," Ciara explained, showing him the page. "The passage says that a child of any age can be raised in Knight School by the parent, or parents, or their guardian. The person will be assigned a social worker to ensure a few things: the child is taken care of and supplied with food, shelter, medical treatment if needed, and other necessitates. In addition, the student must keep up with their training and their school work while attending knight school and raising the child. Provided the student can take care of the child and keep up with their training and schoolwork, the student can attend knight school while raising the child. Therefore, Arc can raise Emmeline while attending knight school!"

Sir Gareth squinted at the passage. "Well, I can't argue with the rule book. Arc, I will call social services and get a social worker assigned to you and Emmeline. I expect you to buy formula and diapers and other things babies need. Emmeline needs a place to sleep, as well as some food, diapers, and other necessities, by tonight. I will check to make sure you have those things by lights out."

Arc nodded. "Of course, Sir Gareth."

Sir Gareth smiled. "Good luck, Arc. I have a feeling that your baby sister is in good hands with you."

Arc grinned. "Thank you."

Sir Gareth walked away from the Phoenix Squad.

"Yes!" Ciara shouted in excitement, and the four of them hugged, careful of the baby in Prudy's arms.

Once they parted from the embrace, Arc took the baby from Prudy and smiled down at his baby sister.

"Welcome to Knight School, Emmeline," he murmured. "I think you're going to like it here, baby sis. I know I do…"

"I got diapers, formula, baby bottles, a pacifier, a pair of pajamas, one outfit, and a few extra blankets," Ciara said as she walked into the Squad Room and placed the various bags on the table in the center of the room. "We can get anything else we need after classes tomorrow."

"My aunt is a maid in the castle and has agreed to watch Emmeline during the day while we train," Warwick informed them. "The king has given her permission to baby sit, as well, as long as she doesn't slack in her other duties."

"I got in touch with that social worker Sir Gareth told us about, and I set up an appointment for the end of next week," Prudy announced.

"And I got a place for her to sleep," Arc told them, gesturing to a cradle pushed against the far wall, complete with blankets and a teddy bear.

Arc removed Emmeline from the basket she'd been resting in and moved her to the cradle. He laid her down on the mattress and smoothed his hand over her hair, staring at her sweet face and suddenly feeling very grateful. Maybe his parents were imprisoned and Miranda was in danger, but at least Emmeline was safe. She had the best squad- the best family- to protect her, after all.

The baby fussed as she was awakened by the movement.

"Shh," Arc murmured. "Big brother's here. Go back to sleep."

The baby whined before slipping back into a peaceful slumber.

"Sir Gareth was right," Prudy mumbled. "She's in good hands with you, Arc."

Arc nodded. "Thanks, guys," he told his squad. "For helping, for… evgerything."

Arc turned back to the baby and smiled at his sleeping baby sister.

"You're going to be safe here," Arc whispered. "I'll make sure of that."

This is a more serious chapter, but I will try to add in some humor during most chapters.

I didn't know how to spell the name of Arc's homeland, so I just guessed, and there was no information on his family during the show, other than his land being captured, so I'm kind of building my own version of a back story for Arc.

Thanks for reading! I'll try- key word try- to update every Sunday because a new episode of Knight Squad is aired every Saturday, so it would make sense to update the day after.
