Hey everyone! Quick warning: this story contains spoilers for episode 84, so don't read unless you want to be spoiled or have already seen the episode. I liked the suspense of the ending where Lloyd and Nya don't know the others are alive, and I will probably play around with it for a bit, so here's the first of possibly many stories/drabbles. Enjoy!

They were on the boat. She couldn't remember how it happened, but she had gotten there. She was barely aware of the rain falling on her face or the lightning streaking the sky. Her focus was on the monster, it's back towards them.

If she listened she could hear Lloyd and Harumi fighting.

She could hear Jay scream.

And then she knew.

She fell to the floor of the boat. Tears threatened to come. Suddenly she was aware of the rain. She looked up and saw a flash of lightning.

It stung.

It reminded her of Jay... of all of them.

"No, no... no."

When she woke up, Misako was paddling still. Lloyd was asleep with his head resting in his mother's lap. The sun was bright, and she didn't know where she was.

"We're just north of Ninjago City. In a few hours from now, we should be out at sea. Do you think you can take it from there?" Misako seemed to read her mind.

Nya nodded, "Where are we going?" Her voice cracked. How long had she cried before she fell asleep? Her throat felt dry, and she couldn't remember the last time she'd had water.

"Zane's father's lighthouse. We need someplace safe to rebuild our strength.," Misako replied.

Nya frowned.

"You seem upset."

"Jay and I have memories there."

"I'm sorry. We can find someplace different," Misako suggested.

Nya shook her head, "it's okay. Where else would we go?"

Nya and Misako sat in silence. Lloyd rolled over, Misako stroked his hair. If the circumstances had been different, Nya would've thought it was motherly and cute, but she couldn't stop thinking about what happened. She instinctively felt for the ring in her pocket and began to cry all over again.

"Can I tell you something?" Nya barely whispered.

"Anything."

Nya pulled the ring out, "Jay and I got engaged. We weren't going to tell anyone yet, but he's gone, and I can't keep this to myself. It'll eat me alive," she choked on a sob.

Misako pulled her close, "I'm sorry sweetie. I never knew. I'm here to talk if you want."

"Thank you," Nya breathed. She rested her head against Misako's shoulder.

Misako loosened her grip, "I have something. You can have it if you want." she dug through her bag and pulled out a silver chain, "Here. I used to use this when Garmadon and I first got engaged," she took Nya's ring and slipped it on the chain, "my ring was too big, so I kept it on a chain, so I wouldn't lose it. I guess I kept it as a token of a past life, but it's yours now," Misako clipped the necklace around Nya's neck, "keep him close to your heart."

Nya lightly touched the ring, "Thanks Misako, I will."

Nya sat down beside her, and the two women talked about love, about grief, about healing.

Nya looked to the sky and noticed another round of storm clouds gathering in the distance. She didn't think the pain would ever go away, but she smiled when she saw a flash of lightning.

People could die, but they never seemed to really go away.

So? What did you think? Please let me know in the reviews. If enough people are interested, I have a lot more to add to this. And if people aren't interested, I'll still write more anyway. Lloyd (and maybe the other ninja too) will get some action in future chapters. Also, I'm intending to keep this Canon... ish. I head Canon Jay and Nya's engagement between hands of time and sons of Garmadon, but other than that, it should be close to what we know from the series. Thanks for reading. Bye!
