School Daze

Daphne placed her books in her locker as she heard the bell ring, school was out. She noticed a tall, blonde boy walking towards her and her heart skipped a beat."Daphne, are you busy today?" asked Fred. She turned around to face Fred.
"I don't think so, why?" replied Daphne.
"I was wondering if you wanted to help me study for English later this afternoon?" It seemed like eternity before she answered.
"Alright," said Daphne. Fred smiled and tried to keep from blushing. He was so obvious sometimes, Daphne probably knew how he felt and was going to laugh about it. But no, Daphne wasn't the type to laugh at someone, and that was one of the good things about her.
Daphne felt like slapping herself. She could be so obvious sometimes, she thought to herself. Could she have been more eager when she said alright, she scolded in her head. What was it about Fred that attracted her so much? Plenty of the boys in school were head over heels for her, but none of them were like Fred. Fred was so strong yet so sweet. She was looking forward to the afternoon.
Fred quickly went home to try to clean up before Daphne would be there. He hoped to be able to at least hint, if not tell her how he felt. She probably didn't return his feelings, but he hoped that there would be a chance. He had admired her for years. Ever since they were little kids, and were members of the Scooby Doo Detective Agency, he had been in love with her. She always looked at him like he was crazy when he went on about the mole men and three headed zombies, yet when they went looking for clues she had never opposed going with him. Of course, he had grown up and had matured, but his feelings for Daphne hadn't changed.
Daphne sat in front of her mirror, fixing her hair. Fred had given her some signs that he liked her, like always choosing to search clues with her, but Daphne still wasn't sure. She brushed her red hair and applied some conditioner into it. With a steady hand she reapplied her lipstick and eyeliner. Daphne had gone over to Fred's house plenty of times, but this time it was just going to be her and him. She wanted to look perfect.
"Daphne, is that you?" called Fred as he went to get the door.
"Yeah," smiled Daphne.
"So you want to come in?" asked Fred. She followed him into the house.
"What do you need help with for English?" offered Daphne running hand through her hair. Fred managed to get his English textbook and point to a page.
"Ok," replied Daphne and she explained it as best as she could. When she was doing so her pencil rolled away, and when Fred was giving it back, their fingers brushed against each other. Fred blushed.
"Do you need any more help?" asked Daphne who was trying hard not to blush.
"Well, umm," stammered Fred, "I need to tell you something." Daphne nodded to show she was listening.
"This is really hard for me to say, but I, well I, you know I, okay I love you," Fred stammered. Daphne smiled.
"I love you too," she replied, kissing him gently, "I have ever since we were kids."
"Really? That's what I was thinking too," Fred blurted out in shock. Daphne could feel her heart beating faster, but it wasn't a bad thing. She put her hand on top of his, he squeezed it.
"Do you want to take a walk?" she offered.
"Sure," answered Fred, and the couple walked off down the street.
