Grief
He never really knew why he'd decided to take a walk in the graveyard. After all which had happened he somehow doubted that this place would make him feel any better. The Face of Boe's revelation that he wasn't the last had turned into a deadly battle, poor Martha being left alone to fight while he was a mocked prisoner of the Master's ship.
Still; when the Master had died he'd cried, cried for his enemy because now he was once again the last Time Lord. He was alone!
A tomb stone caught his eyes and when he stepped closer to read the note his hearts stopped for a moment, Rose Tyler! Loved and dearly missed! Oh how that was true. Falling to his knees he cried harder than he'd ever cried before, his body shaking at every sob. No pain could ever be compared to loosing Rose.
"Is it her? Your friend?"
The voice was strangely familiar but at first he couldn't place it, turned to see who it was he was surprised to see Donna stand a little way back.
"Yes! It is!"
"What happened?" her voice was full of compassion.
"She got sucked into a parallel universe! When you… arrived at the TARDIS I'd just said goodbye to her!"
"Then I'm really sorry for my behaviour!"
Not knowing what to say he stood up and started to walk away, not caring that the tears still ran down his cheeks.
When he came back to the TARDIS he was surprised to see by the tracks on the ground leading to the door; besides his own which led away was there some which led towards it, a lady's shoes and some curious tracks he couldn't place.
I let them in! You need someone right now!
He'd hardly opened the door before the TARDIS spoke inside his head, looking around to see who it was he was both confused and delighted when Sarah-Jane and K9 came towards him.
"I'm so sorry! You loved her didn't you?"
"I still love her! I just… I wish I'd told her!"
Once again the tears welled up in his eyes, sitting down on the floor he hid his face and cried. Short after he felt Sarah-Jane's hand on his back, the woman didn't say anything, just sat there besides him.
"You know… I liked her! At first we had a fight about who'd seen the most but then we started talking about our travels with you!"
"That's why you where laughing?"
"Yes! I was mad at you for leaving me! But… seeing you now I know you don't want to!"
"I don't! But at least she's safe!" silent for a moment he turned to the tin-dog "K9, you take care of Sarah-Jane!"
"Affirmative!"
