The Lucky Charm

Kairi was sitting by the beach again, under the old tree which they all used to come to. All of these memories of the heartless and the keyblade happened almost three years ago now, but it felt like only yesterday when Riku and Sora came back to Destiny Island. Sora was giving her back the lucky charm, giving her his cheerful smile. Like everything in the world was going to be okay, in other worlds too. Which Kairi guessed they were.

They would be arriving soon, but Kairi always came here first. To watch and listen to the waves lap over each other, it helped her think and calm down. Thinking of her lucky charm, she pulled it out behind her shirt where it hung on a necklace. She stared at it, almost forgetting even where she got it from. It was a gift from her grandmother; she said it was very important to her.

Kairi closed her eyes, thinking about all these things that were flowing through her brain. Suddenly she felt a change, she didn't know how though. Maybe it was how the sun set on her face, or that the waves slowed and stopped. She opened her eyes and gasped. She was still at Destiny Island, but somehow it was different. The houses looked older fashioned, the people who she recognized as now deceased were there, however old. She was standing outside her house, at the table that was familiar.

Kairi saw a blue-haired women in leather armor talking to a person she recognized immediately, her grandmother. She tried to call out to her, but found that her voice wouldn't work. 'Why?' she asked herself. Holding her grandmother's hand was a much younger version of Kairi. Then Kairi heard the words that were being said.

"…But why?" Kairi's grandmother was asking the women, "I need to find Terra, and together we could find Ven's… heart." Replied the women. Having slight difficulty saying that her friend's heart was somewhere corrupting even as they spoke. "It's dangerous you know." said Grandma sounding anxious. Typical Grandma. Kairi thought, always looking out for people that she didn't know very well at all.

The women laughed softly. "Do not worry about me, I am more than capable of handling things on my own." She said, brushing away some of her hair empathetically. Kairi's grandmother did not look convinced. "But... Aqua, what will happen if you get hurt." Grandma protested, as Aqua was pulling something out of her pocket. "If anything happens to me, this is my keepsake for you… Kairi…" Aqua said, yanking out an orange star. Then crouched down and gave it to little Kairi.

"It's my Lucky Charm, be sure to bring it back to me."
