A Distance There is
Mack Hartford was sitting on his bed looking at the rain falling on the window. It had been a month since he retired of Ranger business. A month since he turned human. And a month since Tyzonn left.
The former Red Ranger sighed. Every time he remembered the Mercury Ranger his heart started beating harder. A few months ago he wouldn't understand completely why his heart was doing that or even if he was going to feel what he was feeling right now. Mack came to the conclusion that he had feelings for the Mercurian. Love feelings.
Mack left a dry laugh and sighed shaking his head. There was no use for those feelings. Tyzonn was in another planet with a fiancée. He still wondered why Ty had never mentioned her before the incident with Crazar. But Mack could only guess. Losing someone was hurtful and the Red Ranger was starting to understand that a little bit too well.
He remembered the first time he met Tyzonn. He was still cursed with that dragon form. But Mack knew better. He knew that deep inside the alien was different from Moltor and he knew he could trust him. Eventually Tyzonn was returned to his normal form and left. That time the Red Ranger always wondered why he missed the Mercurian so much. But now he could understand perfectly. Now that he was human, he could understand all of his feelings.
When Tyzonn returned, Mack was happy. Very happy. But back then he figured it was just because he was glad to know that he was ok. Mack knew better now. He had developed feelings for Tyzonn, but only now he could see that. Now that he was away.
How can someone not be attracted to him? Mack thought. Besides his looks, Tyzonn was always friendly. Sometimes naïve. The Red Ranger knew that was one of the things that most attracted him to the Mercury Ranger: his innocence. That was something that you wouldn't find in every human and that's why Tyzonn was special in Mack's eyes.
That's was something that attracted the girls as well. Mack knew that both Ronny and Rose had been interested in the alien because of his personality. Mack wondered with a smirk if all Mercurians were such a tease.
Mack looked to the rainy skies. He wondered what Tyzonn was doing now. Was he happy? Of course he was. He was with Vella. The Red Ranger remembered when those two saw each other. There were so in love. Mack sighed again. He couldn't say that he wasn't jealous, but he was happy for Tyzonn. He was happy that Tyzonn was with someone that he loved. Even if that person was not him.
A knock on the door took Mack away from his thoughts. He said to the person to come in and he father entered his room with a smile.
"Son?" Andrew started "How would you like to go on a scavenge trip with me?"
Mack smiled.
