Can't Let Her Go

I watched the girl I love,
Out in the moonlight with her lover.

She glowed with happiness
And gazed at him adoringly.

He was the luckiest guy in the world.
How I wish he was me.

He held her delicate hands in his.
Then he leaned down to kiss her.

She embraced him tightly,
And kissed him back passionately.

It hurt so horribly to watch her with him.
But I couldn't look away.

Because I love her as much as he does,
If not more so.

I love her so much,
It pained me to have to give her up.

I wanted to run to her
And wrap her up in my arms.

But I couldn't.
She was with him now.

She broke off their kiss.
Their hands and fingers remained intertwined.

He began to speak.
I was close enough to catch the words.

"I love you, baby.
For eternity, and a day."

What he said made her smile.
"Forever and always, baby."

Their foreheads touched together intimately.
They looked lovingly into each others' eyes.

My stomach clenched painfully
And my heart felt like it shattered.

I turned away with tears stinging my eyes.
I couldn't look any longer.

I walked away from my love,
My heart, my soul.

I walked away
And didn't look back.

but I didn't let her go.
I couldn't let her go.

My heart belonged to her,
If she knew it or not.

My heart will always belong to her,
Whether she wants it or not.

She will have it forever
And i will have nothing.

But that's alright.
As long as she's happy.

As long as she's happy,
I'll be alright.
