Beginning

The eye is the window to the soul, they say,

defining your character,

your loves and passions,

you dreaded fears.

Your life.

The Beholder

I love your eyes,

so clear and so pure

with a touch of uncertainty

that warms my heart.

I wonder how you regard the universe

with eyes so unlike mine.

When they see you,

they peek into your eyes

where they find

hopes, dreams,

that will never end.

The Seer

Everyone sees my eyes

as such bright and beautiful symbols.

I do not usually see my own eyes.

In the mirror I do not

think much of them.

I hope that

you don't see the fire

beyond the irises.

The fire I try to hide.

For the fire burns and scars my eyes,

forever concealing the life behind them.

Ending

I understand now

that it is what you see

that defines you.

The universe you see when you look up

and behold the sea of stars.
