Spoilers for "The Fifth Man"
Liz watched the clock, tapping her foot quickly, waiting.
Waiting for Nikki to come back to the office.
As soon as she had heard they had been attacked, she had assumed the worst.
Her anxiousness faded a bit when she heard that Nikki was fine, but it had gone back up when she heard Don almost died.
She turned to find a very annoyed Nikki coming into their office space.
Sitting on Liz's desk she frowned, "Bastard put stitches in my head."
Liz smiled, Nikki was fine, annoyed, mad, but fine.
Her smile faded a bit when she remembered Don, "How is he?"
Nikki shrugged, "They don't know, but he'll be alright. Didn't you say he was a fighter?"
Liz nodded, "Ya... God Nikki, I was so worried."
Nikki covered her hand, "You should be, we're a team."
Liz shook her head, "I was worried about everyone else but it was mainly you."
Nikki looked at her, "Why weren't you at the hospital?"
Liz looked around, "Come on."
After leading Nikki into the women's washroom, she turned to face her, "I couldn't go to the hospital because..."
Nikki nodded, encouraging her to go on, "Ya?"
Liz looked directly into her eyes, "Because if I had, I would have done this."
Nikki didn't have time to respond before Liz pulled her into a kiss.
After Liz pulled away, they looked at each other, Nikki smiled first, "So much for keeping it out of work."
Liz laughed, "At least no one saw, that would beat the purpose of a secret relationship."
Nikki's smiled faded, "What if it wasn't a secret anymore?"
Liz's face went blank, "You serious?"
Nikki nodded, "Not yet, I mean we shouldn't make a decision now, but I think everyone would understand."
Liz sat down on the counter, "With Don being the hospital, I don't think that would be a good idea."
Nikki sat beside her, "No one needs more drama right now."
Liz raised her eyebrows, "Drama?"
Nikki looked over at her, "I said everyone would understand, not that they wouldn't get it right away or be surprised."
Liz shrugged, "I think we're fine right now."
Nikki grinned, "I know one of us is damn fine right now."
Liz shoved her off the counter, "I'll take that as a compliment, and it's one I'm going to return. For being beat up, some one is looking very good."
Nikki raised her eyebrows, "You find something hot about that Liz?"
Liz nodded, "Very hot."
Smiling, Nikki crossed her arms, "And what are you going to do about it?"
Liz grinned and shook her head, "Not here, but later..."
After one last kiss, they left the bathroom, small smiles on their faces.
