So this was written for a challenge, which at first I had the hardest time coming up with something for the prompt. Then, this hit me. I'm rather happy with it. I hope you enjoy it too .

Pein had long ago realized that Konan had never fully lost her child-like innocence. It may not have been pure innocence (perhaps off-white better described it), but it existed none the less. It was probably the only thing that had ever irritated him about the woman.
He simply could not understand how she could still have such a blind faith about her after all they had seen together. Even more, he couldn't understand why he felt the urge to nurture and spoil Konan as if she still were a child.
He would often become more aware of the innocence in the moments she was preparing a meal for them to share or when they would spend evenings together in silence. He simply couldn't understand her soul.
Though as he watched in horror as Konan's crumpled body crumbled to the floor before him, still as beautiful as the origami she had loved, Pein finally knew all the answers- the reason why her off-white innocence irked him so. Konan had forgiven him in a way he had never been able to forgive himself.
As he stared into the eyes of the godaime hokage, Konan's murderess, he swore to avenge the angel he had torn from Heaven to live with him in Hell.
