Jessica Laurabet looked like any first year. Maybe her eyes were a bit wider than normal, and sure, she was shaking so bad you would think that someone had turned her into a bass string and plucked her, but all in all, she looked pretty normal. On the inside, she was point-blank terrified. She had just figured a very deep, dark secret about one of hr professors; he was a Dark Creature, and he was going to kill her!
"Miss Laurabet, is something wrong?" Professor Lupin's hand came down on her shoulder, making her jump about a foot.
"No." She squeaked. "Yes. Maybe. Yes."
He looked confused for a second. "Come into my office and we'll talk about it."
She started shaking harder, but followed him into the room, her knees leaving bruises on each other.
"So, what's wrong?" he smiled kindly at her.
Her lips trembled for a few seconds before she broke. "Oh, Professor, I think I know something terrible! And I'm gonna die because I know it."
To say that Professor Lupin was alarmed was an understatement. "Can you tell me? I might be able to help. Or we can go to Professor Dumbledore."
Jessica cried even harder. "But I can't go to Professor Dumbledore. He has to know be cause he hired the man!" She wailed.
Professor Lupin went pale. "Can you tell me, then?"
Jessica nodded mournfully. "Well, I think that… no, I know that one of my teachers isn't a human, but is actually a Dark Creature that wouldn't think twice about killing a little girl like me." Professor Lupin's shoulders slumped, and he looked more tired than ever. "Professor Snape is a vampire, and he gonna kill me in detention tonight!" Jessica exclaimed dramatically, startling Professor Lupin into a ramrod straight sitting position.
"How do you know?"
"He looks like one, and he growls, and he drinks blood!"
Professor Lupin didn't really know what to say in response to this. "He doesn't drink blood. And he eats…" Remus trailed off.
"No he doesn't!" Jessica was crying again. "He only ever drinks what everyone thinks is coffee but it's probably the blood of students he kills when they're in detention!"
Professor Lupin tried a different route. "He also doesn't have any fangs."
"He… he probably cut them off, to hide them!" Jessica wailed.
"Miss Laurabet, you can trust me, right?" She nodded shakily. "Professor Snape is not a vampire, nor will he try and suck your blood in your detention."
This reassured, Jessica went to detention and survived, with a minor (major... all right, she nearly fainted at Snape's door) amount of fear.
Later that year, however, she was shaking once more. Professor Lupin was a werewolf, which meant that he was probably in cahoots with Snape, which meant that Snape was a vampire! She clutched her neck nervously as he passed by her cauldron, and he raised one eyebrow at her.
Her eyes bugged out. "He's gonna eat me alive."
