In Memoriam

Implanting memories is absurdly easy. Even a layman can do it with only a suggestion. Making someone remember participating in the murders of nine women, though, that takes some doing. The subject must be put into a more suggestible state of mind using drugs or hypnosis, and the memory must be frequently reinforced. Abigail's ability to focus makes her an excellent hypnosis subject and Lecter has no trouble implanting the memories, but he can't seem to overcome her desire to be caught. If he can't bring her into line, he may not be able to save her in this life.
