Each to Their Own....

The hot sun bathed the wide sandy stretch; Jack stood looking down at his archaeologist, pleased that Daniel had found something with which to occupy himself.

"You really think it's a good idea, sir, letting him do this? I mean, we might never be able to drag him away from here," Sam said, chewing on her lip in concern for her friend.

"He's happy, Carter. He doesn't get to play in the sand as often as he should."

Sam Carter shrugged and had to agree with the colonel. At least Daniel looked as if he were enjoying himself.

With the tools of his trade carefully laid out beside him, Daniel was busy carefully scratching away at the surface seeking the hidden treasures beneath.

"I do not believe Daniel Jackson will unearth much of value or interest," Teal'c commented a few minutes later.

"Maybe not, but it'll keep him occupied until we get back," Jack explained.

"Will not the natives find his presence disturbing, O'Neill?"

"Possibly, but he's a big boy now, Teal'c. I could order you to stay and watch over him, but then you'd miss out on the fun. There's a whole lot of unknown out there."

Teal'c had second thoughts. "Indeed. As your people are fond of saying, 'he can look after himself'."

"Great. Now that that is settled, can we get going?"

"But sir...."

"Oh, fer crying out loud, Carter! He'll be fine! It's not like we'll be a million miles away!"

Sam hesitated but had to admit that they would still be within reach should the crowd of onlookers get nasty. The natives seemed harmless enough. She nodded. "You're right, sir. He should be okay."

"Good! Ready?"

"Yes, sir!"

"Teal'c?"

"I am ready, O'Neill."

"Great! Last one into the ocean buys the beer at tonight's luau!" Jack said, hastily shedding his rather dazzling Hawaiian outfit, stripping down to his swimming trunks.

The End

A/N: There is a resort on Hawaii's Waikiki beach, called the Hale Koa Hotel, that caters strictly to U.S. military personal and their families.
