It's June 8th.
Crap.
All Might's birthday is in two days.
Deku has been to practically every shop in the city trying to look for the perfect birthday gift for all might. Everyone else in class 1-A has already picked something out for the Symbol of Peace. Everyone except Deku. No, he hadn't forgotten. He's actually been thinking about this for weeks, but he can't decide what to get his mentor. This has been a tough year on All Might and Midoriya really wants this to be special.
Ochako had suggested he write a heartfelt letter.
"I know how much you look up to him, Deku. Why not let him know?"
Words could never do All Might justice.
Momo had suggested something practical.
"All Might's always coughing up blood, why not get him a monogrammed handkerchief?"
It's not personal enough.
Sato had even offered to help you bake some sweets for him.
Deku liked all of their ideas, he really did. And he might still write a letter and bake some sweets. But he really wanted to give him something special. Something that expressed just how much Deku looked up to him. A reminder of what All Might meant to him.
It was nearing sundown and Deku needed to get back to the dorms before curfew. There was one more store for Deku to go into. A Hallmark store. Deku wasn't expecting to find anything among the porcelain knick knacks and greeting cards until he got the wall of photo frames. There it was. Deku's face took on the color of a tomato. He couldn't believe his luck. He grabbed the frame and ran to the front to pay, trying to avoid the eye contact of the confused employee.
Class ended and everyone was headed back to the dorms. All except one green haired boy. Deku quickly made his way to All Might's office and gave a timid knock.
"Come in!"
With shaky hands, Deku gripped the door knob and slowly made his way in. Deku could see his desk littered with various cards, treats, and flowers from his classmates.
"Midoriya, my boy! You've been awfully quiet today. Is something the matter?"
"N-no, sir!" Midoriya stammered. "I just wanted to wait until after class to give you your birthday gift."
"You didn't have to get me anything, my boy! Having you as my faithful student is enough!"
Deku blushed.
"I know I didn't have to, b-but I wanted to... Um.. Here."
Deku sat on the couch across from All Might and reached into his bag. He pulled out a slim box, about a foot wide, and handed it to all might, with a blush creeping up his face.
All Might reached out and took the gift from the boy, eager to see what his favorite student was all flustered about. He unwrapped the gift and saw the back of what looked like a picture frame. He turned it over in his hands to see a picture he had taken with Midoriya on the beach, when he was first training him. The top of the frame said "DAD", and the bottom read, "A son's first hero".
All Might looked up to see a fiercely red Midoriya, looking down and twiddling his thumbs.
All Might teared up.
"Young Midoriya.."
Deku looked up then, face beet red with sincerity and determination in his eyes.
"Happy birthday, dad."
