Fade in.

We see Devi, in a black skirt and a red button-down top, sitting on a simple black box cushion in front of a dark gray background. The light source flickers off, and an over head light flashes on. It moves around the room, finally settling on Devi, showing only her in the now dark room. She begins to sing as soon as the piano melody starts.

"My black backpack is stuffed with broken dreams..twenty bucks should get me through the week. Never said a word of discontentment, but now I'm leaving home. Here in the shadows, I'm safe, I'm free, I've got nowhere else to go but I cannot stay where I don't belong."

Devi stands up, slowly crossing the room, putting her hand over her heart.

"Two months pass by and it's getting cold. . .I know I'm not lost I'm just alone. But I won't cry, I won't give up. Waking up is knowing you who really are. Here in the shadows, I'm safe, I'm free, I've got nowhere else to go but I cannot stay here.oooh."

She turns on her toe, facing the camera, looking upward. Her eyes shut, and she slowly backs onto the black cushion again.

"Show me the shadow where true meaning lies...So much more is made in empty eyes."

Her eyes snap open, darting right. Her hand leaves her chest, and rests by her side.

"Here in the shadows.I'm safe, I'm free. I've nowhere else to go but I cannot stay where I don't belong."

Devi looks at the camera as the song draws to a close.
