Author's notes: I just got around to seeing Battle Royale a few days ago. I'd been meaning to for a while, but if my parents had found out, I'd be dead, so I had to be careful. This is a little one shot I thought up.

Megumi was walking home, carrying her newest photos with her. There was one of her friends Noriko and Nobu, one of Hiroki, and her personal favorite, one she took of Shuya during one of his basketball games. It was autographed, "For Megumi, Wild 7 Nanahara." She looked at it, smiled, and put it back in her pocket. When she rounded a corner, she bumped into Numai. His gang was standing behind him.

"Oh, I'm sorry!"

"Yeah, you'll be sorry all right. Nobody messes with Numai!" And he pulled out a jackknife, flicked it open, and pointed it at Megumi.

"No, please. Somebody help me!" she screamed out. Fortunately, this caught the attention of Mitsuko, who happened to be nearby. When she arrived, Megumi was pinned to the ground with a knife held against her throat.

"Hey, leave her alone!" She screamed at Numai.

"Shit, it's Mitsuko. Let's get outta here." He shouted, and Numai and his gang ran off. Mitsuko walked over to Megumi and helped her up.

"Are you okay?" she said.

"Yeah, I'm fine. But one more second and I'd have been a goner. Thanks for saving me. You're Mitsuko Soma, right? I remember you from class."

"You must be Megumi Eto, the budding photographer. Nice to meet you." Responded Mitsuko. They began walking home together.

"Can we be friends?" Asked Megumi. Mitsuko nodded. "Friends forever?" she asked. With this, Mitsuko hesitated.

"Forever is a long time. Who knows what might happen in the future. But yes, I would like that." After they arrived at Megumi's house, Megumi asked,

"Would you like to stay for a bit?"

"I don't see why not. I don't have any other plans, and it's not like my drunken wreck of a mother cares where I am." So they opened the door and went up to Megumi's room.

"Hey Mitsuko, thanks again for saving me."

"No problem. I just can't stand jerks like that picking on helpless girls. They make me sick!" Then, Mitsuko's cellphone started ringing. She picked it up. "Hello, this is Mitsuko Soma." "Oh, hello Kazushi." "Yeah." "No I didn't blow you off, I just forgot." "Look, I'll be right there." "I'm over at Megumi's house, so it might take me a while to get there." "OK, bye."

"Who was that?" asked Megumi.

"Kazushi Niida. I promised I'd, uh, visit him today. I need to go, see you later. We can get to know each other better on the class trip."

"OK. I'll be looking forward to it." And so, Mitsuko left.
