I started this story almost eight years ago – times flies! I feel like I finally figured out what I wanted from this story. A lot more politics will be brought into this story. I've really enjoyed reading some of the stories that incorporated real life events into the JAG series. Angie is a character I created. I pictured her being a main part of the JAG crew. She's a Captain in the Marines, the rank right before Major. Also Gunny and Angie both show up in the middle of season 3. She was at another JAG office and was transferred in.
Don't be surprised if I also bring some NCIS episodes into this story. These characters are not mine. I'm just borrowing them for a short time
_
Angie remembered her first day at JAG and why she had been so nervous. She was going to serve under the command of her mentor. The Admiral didn't know how much of an impact he made in her life. It was only a few short weeks. However, having that father figure in her life, even for just a short amount of time, did wonders for her as a teen.
It had been years since she saw the Admiral, then Captain, at the Boys and Girls Club. The officers were part of a community program and initiate to work with troubled kids and teens.
FLASHBACK
After battling morning traffic, she arrived at JAG a little before nine. While in the parking lot she fixed her hair and makeup. Just as she is getting out of the car and opening her door, she hears a thud. 'Real smooth there, Thompson.' she said aloud, thinking she hit a car. Looking towards where the noise came from stood a certain 6'4" blue-eyed Navy Commander. Coffee was dripping from his uniform.
"I am so sorry, sir! I'll pay for your dry cleaning, I mean…really…I'm so" she stuttered.
Commander Harmon Rabb Jr. took in the sight before him. She was about 5'8" with blonde hair and piercing green eyes. Wow, the new Captain was a knockout.
"Really it's fine. Accidents happen all the time," he said flashing her his thousand-watt smile.
"Are you sure, sir?" she nervously replied.
"Positive" said Harm, "By the way, I'm Harm." Extending his hand.
She met him in a handshake. "Angela but I prefer Angie, sir." She smiled at him.
"We better hurry, can't keep the Admiral waiting…he's probably at his wits end with me after last week." Quipped Harm, eliciting a laugh from Angie.
Harm led her to the Admirals office.
The ding of the elevator jolted Angie from her reverie. Harm and Angie walked into the elevator, which was packed. They managed to fit into the back corner. Angie was facing Harm…close enough that Harm was clearing his throat and seemed a tad uncomfortable. Angie looked at Harm. Wow, a girl could get lost in those blue eyes of his. Her thoughts were interrupted by the male voice in front of her.
"So, Angie, ah…where are you from?" Harm said.
"All over. I was born in Florida," she answered. "What about yourself?"
"La Jolla, California." He replied with a flirtatious smile.
"Have you always been at JAG?" asked Angie
"Nope. I flew F-14s before my days at JAG." He said.
"Explains the cocky pilot grin I saw earlier." Joked Angie. Before he could reply with a comeback, Angie darted over to Tiner's desk, while flashing him a quick smile. Harm smiled and shook his head. She'll make things interesting for sure.
"You must be the new Captain" said PO Tiner while looking her up and down.
"Did the uniform give it away?" shot Angie with a smile, " I'm Captain Angela Thompson."
"Nice to meet you, Ma'am. The Admiral is expecting you, so go right in." Said Tiner.
"Enter." said the Admiral without looking up from the mountain of paperwork on his desk. Angie stood at attention. "At ease, Captain" She relaxed a bit and took a seat.
The admiral looked up to take in the newest addition to the JAG office. The Captain looked so familiar. Naw, it couldn't be. He could tell how nervous she was.
After a few seconds, everything clicked. Her hair color, her age. It had to be the same little girl he remembered from his few shorts weeks of community service. He then was sent away on an investigation before getting promoted to JAG.
"Sir, I know-" said Angela quietly.
"By God, Angie is that you? I recognized the name but I didn't know you had joined the service." Said the Admiral as he came around the desk.
"You remember me, sir?" said Angie in shock.
"Of course," said the Admiral with a smile, as he leaned against the front of his desk. "Glad to have you here at JAG."
"I just was looking over your file that was sent over. Your superior officers were very impressed with you. I think you'll do very well here." Said the Admiral, as he picked up Angie's file from his desk.
"Thank you sir, I'm looking forward to be under your command," Said Angie.
She didn't know if the Admiral would remember her. After all, she was a young teenager and looked a lot more grown up. Feeling extremely relieved that her first interaction with the Admiral went way better then expected, she got up to leave after she had been dismissed.
"Oh and Angie?"
"Yessir?"
"You'll have to catch me up on what you've been up to. It's good to see you after all these years," the Admiral said.
"You too, sir," Angie replied with a nod and a quick smile before closing the door.
END OF FLASHBACK
Smiling to herself, Angie continued to work on the never-ending pile of paperwork. The past year at JAG had been an eventful one. Her and Mac had become very close. Harm, Bud and Harriet also became close friends. Even though she had been accepted in the tight-knit group, she was still unsure about Sturgis. She didn't dislike him. However, he seemed so stuck up and by the book – it was hard to tell how him and Harm were close at the Academy. Angie had also gotten to know his current girlfriend, Bobbi Lantham, through some of her cases and investigations on Capitol Hill. Rather fond of Bobbi, she didn't see what the Congresswoman saw in Sturgis.
And then there was Gunny. He had been the other newbie in the office besides Angie. He was on the quiet side, but still managed to have a strong presence. When he did speak, he was pretty funny. They had a strange relationship. There was the occasional flirting and teasing, yet they both made sure to remain professional. She couldn't help but feel some weird connection with him. It didn't hurt that he was easy on the eyes.
Ten pages later, there was a knock on the door.
Standing at attention was PO Tiner.
"At ease, Petty Officer." Said Angie.
"Ma'am the Admiral wants to see you."
"Alright, thank you Tiner. Dismissed." Angie said with a smile. Putting away her paper work. Angie walked out of her office and saw Gunny walking in the same direction.
