Strangers in Love
"He's gone, Sakura." Sasuke choked. He didn't want to beleive it either, but it was true. Naruto, his best friend, his rival, his...his Naruto, was dead. He had tried to kill him so many times, but he knew now that when he had struck the final blow, as he knew he would have if the damn loser had given him the chance, he would have not only killed Naruto, but something in himself as well.
"He can't be!" Sakura sobbed as Sasuke pulled her along, "He just can't be! He's too strong!" She pulled free of his grip and ran back towards the center of the smoldering crater. "You promised!" She screamed at the top of her lungs "You promised not to die! Come back!" She beat at the ground where she fell, pounding her fists raw and burnt before Sasuke could reach her "You liar! Come back! You ...you!" She disolved into wordless screams as Sasuke held her to him, feeling tears burning in his own eyes. "Naruto, you idiot. You god-damned idiot." he cursed as Sakura sobbed in his arms.
It was tuesday, he mused, she always wore that top on tuesdays. He pulled her to him as soon as she had set down the plate of food on the low table. The guards only ever gave them five minutes or so alone before they invaded his cell and tore them apart. Today he was determined not to waste it. She put up a minimum of resistance to his advances, "N...!" was as far as she ever got before his mouth closed over hers and she melted in his embrace. "Sasuke!" she gasped in surprise as he pulled back from the soul-searing kiss. "Sakura." He answered. "I..."
"Alright, love birds! Break it up!" Sasuke snarled at the large boned shinobi that pulled Sakura from his grasp. She looked at him with those wide, blue-green eyes as they led her away. He sighed and flopped back on the bed. "I love you." He whispered.
