Noughts and crosses

Bridging the Divide

Preface

~Sephy~

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SEPHY!?" Meggie bellowed in my direction, though I didn't hear her. It wasn't because I didn't want to here her. It was quite the opposite. I wanted with all my heart to hear her. To hear anything for that matter. But nothing was getting through to my ears. All I could do was sit there, slumped at the end of the bed, and pray to god for help.

"SEPHY!" Meggie screeched again. But, as before, the screech did not penetrate my ears. "SEPHY!" Usually I would agree with the term "third time lucky" but at this moment, the phrase was not correct, still I couldn't hear. I was starting to black out. The blackness edged its way into my vision, stealing the world from my eyes.

"SEPHY, SHE'S NOT BREATHING!" This time my ears caught the shriek, and now I wished they hadn't. I fell back to earth with a painful bang. "I-I think she's dead," The screeching stopped, and in it's place came a sickening silence, which was only broken by the seldom gasp in between Maggie's silent sobs.

My gaze never left my baby. The fallen angel. Well, don't worry baby, you're back where you belong now. Dancing up in heaven.

The story is set after Knife Edge, and completely ignores Checkmate and Double Cross. Hope you like it.

Sadly, I do not own any of these characters. They belong to Malorie Blackman
