Note: Alright, wrote this awhile ago when either I was in a bad mood or just felt like writing dreary poetry. Anyway, thought I'd post it up here for you all to read. It's based on entering the Dark Forest. Hope you like it. Constructive Criticism welcomed. Like I said, wrote it awhile ago and just recently revised it a bit. Enjoy

Sleep Had Come to Soon

It seems just like yesterday, that I was living life in glee

I enjoyed the smell of flowers and a life that was free

The sun always seemed to shimmer and the world was all my own

Who would have ever thought that I would soon become unknown

It was a day like any other, while sitting by the brook

Nothing seemed to disturb my thoughts, if only I had looked

There was the twang of an arrow then blood dripped down my chest

Such a simple weapon would finally lay me to rest

I fought for my spirit, for my life was to young to leave

But the unthinkable happened, something I couldn't believe

My spirit gave rise, leaving my fading body behind

While the face of my executioner stood out in my mind

I faded into the oblivion, past years and days of my life.

I saw the joyful moments, and I remembered my strife

Up towards the gates, that would lead me to eternity

Oh how I wished to live, but the wish was in vanity

The gates opened wide as I was forced to enter within

This would be my home, it was nothing like where I had been

There was death all around me, creatures so young and old

These were the exact nightmares like my parents had once told

The pain and sorrow of losing to my final fight

Was something that my mind refused to believe was right

No longer would I hear the voices of my loved one

No longer would I live to bask beneath the sun

No longer would I feel the kiss of the summer breeze

No longer would I enjoy the sanctity of the trees

No longer would I see the sun, the stars and moon

I couldn't believe it happened, my sleep had come to soon.
