So this story will be focused on Moana's daughter, Laeli, who is my OC. This is my first time doing a crossover story, but I've always wanted to do a crossover with Moana and HTTYD, so I hope y'all will enjoy this story which is very much of a work in progress. Please leave reviews!

Laeli looked straight ahead at the brilliant blue eyes of a woman no older than her. She'd never seen blue eyes before. She'd never seen such light skin before, or any part of her that she was seeing. It was all so unfamiliar.

The girl in front of her gave her a smile and held out her arm for her. It was a gesture Laeli knew, so she took the girl's hand and looked around. Her surroundings were just darker compared to home. Not to mention it was FREEZING. Laeli violently shivered as she realized her clothing was far more suited for tropical weather than whatever weather it was here.

The girl rushed away and gave her a fur blanket, wrapping it around her shoulders and telling her something in a strange language. She already figured there were going to be some problems.

To say Zephyr was curious about the girl in strange clothes was an understatement. She immediately brought the girl back to the Haddock home where her parents and little brother were probably waiting for her, as it was nearing dinnertime. The girl had a much darker complexion than her, and the warmest brown eyes she'd ever seen. Not to mention she was fascinated by her tattoos.

"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" Zephyr called out. Ahead of her, Astrid was busy looking over documents when she looked up and her eyes widened in surprise.

"Your father's at- Zephyr…?" Zephyr gestured for the girl to sit down, who was looking incredibly uncomfortable and frightened and was still visibly shaking. "Zephyr, who is this?" Astrid asked, grabbing another fur blanket and offering it to the girl, who refused to make eye contact.

"I don't know. I found her on shore, her boat's pretty damaged. It doesn't look like any boat I've seen before. And it looked like it was prepared for multiple people." Astrid looked at the girl with a sympathetic smile.

"Does she speak Norse?"

"I don't know. I haven't heard her speak. She doesn't seem to be from anywhere in the north." Astrid took a good look at the girl and spied her tattoos.

"It's possible she's from the south." At this moment, Hiccup and Nuffink appeared. Hiccup was about to say his usual greeting to Astrid but was visibly distracted seeing the stranger sitting in his living room.

"We don't know who she is or where she came from. I found her on shore and her boat was damaged." Hiccup kneeled in front of the girl, giving her a pleasant smile and holding out his hand.

"Give her some paper and charcoal, perhaps she can give us something through that." He suggested after thinking for a moment.

Laeli was no fool. While her people didn't have a writing system, she knew how to communicate with symbols if she didn't want to talk. It was something her father had taught her should she ever be in a dire situation. She never thought she'd have to use it, but it seems it was time to.

After maybe an hour, Laeli showed these strange people her work. She did her best to describe who she was, her family, and her journey, and what'd happened to her. It seemed that the father understood the most of it.

He relayed what he understood to his family.

"So, it seems she's also the daughter of chiefs, and she comes from a long line of ocean voyagers…" he looked at the paper again, "and she was doing her first voyage on her own." Astrid smiled at her husband impressed.

"You got all that from pictures?" Hiccup shrugged.

"Pictures can tell a lot."

For the next few days, Hiccup and Laeli were able to communicate through pictures since they both knew neither could understand each other's language. Zephyr observed this and started paying close attention to how the girl spoke. Eventually, after a few weeks of the girl staying with them, Zephyr was able to figure out a basic introduction.

"I am Zephyr." She finally said at dinner, as close to the girl's language as she could get. Her parents, brother, and the girl all looked at her. The girl beamed.

"I am Laeli!" She replied enthusiastically. Hiccup's jaw dropped.

"How did you-?"

"I've been paying attention to her language, I was able to figure out how to speak it! And looks like I did pretty well!"

The two girls then sat down and Zephyr taught Laeli Norse, and how to write in runes.

It surprisingly didn't take very long for Laeli to finally started speaking in full sentences in Norse. And she became proficient at it. Hiccup finally brought Laeli to the new Great Hall and invited her to introduce herself to New Berk for the first time.

Because Laeli was the daughter of a chief, she was used to speaking in front of crowds.

"Hello everyone. My name is Laeli. As I am sure you are aware, I am not from here. I am in fact from a place far south of here. Warm, sunny, and very pleasant. I am the daughter of chiefs, in a long line of voyagers back home." There was her basic introduction. "It is a rite of passage back home for the heir to do a voyage on their own with villagers and chart their own course. I was in the middle of mine when I unexpectedly hit a fog bank, and somehow… ended up here. Do not ask me how it is possible, because I don't know either."

"Supernatural forces!"

"Loki is at it again!" Someone shouted. Laeli rolled her eyes and waited for the crowd to quiet down.

"Tell us about your family." Astrid offered. Laeli just chuckled at this.

"My mother is quite the legend back home. She helped restore balance to my world. She even teamed up with a demigod to restore the heart of a god. If it wasn't for a lot of her actions, I really would not be here." Laeli grinned at Hiccup who just watched impressively. Whoever this girl's parents were, they must've been remarkable, because this girl knew how to speak to a crowd.

Laeli then told them about her family's connection to the water, touching the shimmery shell locket around her neck.

"Back home, the ocean is an important factor. It's a part of our lives in some form or another, and my mother has a special bond with the ocean, believe it or not."

"What a load of yak dung." Someone commented. Laeli sighed, knowing people wouldn't believe her.

"I expected people to not believe me. But regardless of whether you believe it or not, the ocean is alive, and it's aware of what goes on."

"Why don't you prove it?" Someone hissed. Hiccup stood to make a comment but Laeli stopped him.

"No no, please allow me."

Laeli was taken down to the shore, with New Berk watching closely.

Laeli kneeled down and whispered, "Tell mom and dad that I'm okay." In response, the ocean reared up, splashing water on her.

Behind her, Berk gasped. The girl wasn't crazy! Was she secretly a goddess or something? She had to be! No normal human should be able to communicate with water like that!

The ocean swirled around her, seemingly in glee. Zephyr walked up next to Laeli to get a better look at the sentient wave.

"Oh, Tannr would love this." She snickered. Laeli glanced over at her.

"Who's Tannr?"

"He's a childhood friend of mine." Laeli didn't question beyond that. She became transfixed with watching the ocean again, already longing to see her family again, as none of this was planned. She paced around on the sand, mumbling to herself. Zephyr looked at her parents.

"What can we do?" Hiccup thought for a moment. It wasn't the first time he'd had to help someone get home. But this time it was far different, this girl's home was far beyond their reach of the world, but he was determined to help Laeli.

"Laeli, we're going to help you get home, whatever it takes. " She smiled sadly at him.

"I mean… on one hand this is incredibly exciting, knowing that there's so much of the world I haven't yet seen, but on the other hand, this is terrifying. This is so foreign to me, from the weather to the land, and the people, no offense."

"None taken. And I understand. My people and I will help you get home." Laeli smiled again, a little happier this time.

"Thank you, chief Hiccup." He smiled back.

"Just call me Hiccup."
