Look, guys! I wrote a fanfiction based on a song that's not by Bastille! Also this is my first Éponine/Combeferre fic (I think). The song is Broken by the Sheytoons (that's Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser). Enjoy!

Éponine had never been someone to believe in God. After the childhood she'd gone through she was too shattered to believe anyone was there. But she knew it was God who brought Combeferre into her life.

Éponine had been in relationships before, but she preferred the single life. Even at the age of twenty, the stories of monsters still tormented her at night, stories that should not have been told to a five year old who wanted to keep her mind safe. To then have people she'd genuinely fallen in love with mock her inability to sleep with the light off was even more painful. But Combeferre was different. He was happy to hold her at night and tell her she was so brave. Had anyone else done that ever she would have thrown a right hook and told them to stop being so condescending. But Combeferre was the least patronising person, and he almost understood her. Éponine always thought empathy was impossible until she met Combeferre, who could so perfectly fit himself into her shoes and get her completely.

The best thing about Combeferre was that he didn't know how to fix her. Looking back on previous relationships, she knew that the problem was that they knew her, back when they had owned the inn, when they still had Cosette, when Éponine was still daddy's little girl. She'd grown up with Montparnasse, he'd seen her change, he'd seen the before and after photos of her life and he wanted the old Éponine back. Combeferre had never seen Éponine fixed, so he didn't know how to get her back. The best thing was that Combeferre didn't need to fix her; he never let her believe she was broken.

So that was short. Hope you enjoyed!
