Link was always trying to be with Zelda. He didn't just want to protect her. He wanted to marry her. He even had a plan. He played to met her by the waterfall to propose.
Link ran all the way over to the waterfall just to see her. To his disappointment, she wasn't there. She is probably just running late he thought.
He was there from morning until sunset but she wasn't there. He decided to head home. He went in his room and sat at his dest. "Did I do something wrong?" He asked himself. "I would never want to hurt her," He said. All the sudden there was a knock at his door.
He ran to the door. When he opened it, Zelda was standing there. "Hi Link," She said. "You wanted to see me?" she questioned.
"Yes! Please sit down!" he said happily. Zelda has never seen him this happy. She was kind of scared because of how happy he was. Is he ok? She thought. Knowing Link she knew he was always thinking about something.
"Zelda?" he asked. She looked him in the eyes. When Link saw her eyes he melted making him forget all the things he wanted to say.
"Yes Link?" She continued to lock eyes with him. He just sat there still admiring her beautiful eyes. She thought something was behind her that caught his attention. She looked behind her and nothing was there. "Link are you ok?" She asked.
Link snapped out of his trance. "Yes. I'm fine," he said shaking his head hoping that wouldn't happen again. Zelda gave him a questioning look. She knew something was going through his mind. She just couldn't figure out what it was.
"Zelda? What would you do if I asked you to marry me?" He asked. She laughed at the thought of it. Link tried to go along with it and laughed.
"Link we have been friends since we were little," she said. "Wouldn't it be a little awkward if something like that happened between us?" She asked. She's looking at me with those beautiful eyes again. I think I might pass out. he thought. He tried to keep himself awake, but hearing those words ripped his heart to shreds.
"Yeah it would," He said trying to go along with it. He doesn't want her to know that he is broken to the point where he wants to cry in front of her.
"Well, its getting late. I'm going to bed," She said. She said goodbye and left. Once she did, Link through the ring out the window and cried into his pillow. He didn't want to see that ever again. Hopefully he never will.
That day will haunt him forever knowing that the girl he loves more then anything, would not want to marry him. He stayed in his room for days. Not eating, sleeping, or drinking.
Zelda got really worried and went to see if he was ok. She didn't know if what he said was true or if he really did want to marry her.
Link eventually got over that and started practicing in the court yard. "Link are you ok?" Zelda's voice said from behind him. Link didn't want to look at her. He knew that if he locked eyes with her he would start crying again.
"I'm fine," He said. "Just been tired," he said. He continued practicing. Zelda went back to her room feeling as if she had done something wrong.
"Is Link really ok? Or did I hurt him?" she asked herself. She didn't want to bug him anymore. They haven't been talking lately. I wonder if they are still thinking about that day right now.
