Comments: A little bit angsty....I hope you like it.

Life catches up with you in the end, the hurt, the anger, the sadness that you so carefully hide beneath your smile, eventually bubbles to the surface and you find that every breath hurts!

Gwen ran...she ran past the colourful market stalls, the confused town folk and the guards standing by the gates of Camelot. The wind lashed against her face as she ran through fields, until finally breathing made her stop and in amongst the purple and yellow flowers, she screamed out in pain...no longer being able to hold back the river flowing inside her, she cried.

She wanted to feel alive again, she wanted more than anything to not be alone, to hold onto her father, she screamed again in frustration. She wanted to hold onto anyone...why did life have to be so cruel...why take away her father with one hand and give her someone unobtainable to love with the other. Why did it hurt so damn much to breathe! Gwen looked up to the sky and as if the angels weeped for her, it started to rain!

Arthur had gone for a morning walk purposely past Guinevere's house. It had been two years today since her father had passed....the day of his death would be etched in his heart forever...the guilt a daily friend. He knew he had been a different man back then, but Guinevere was right..he was a prince and he should have not allowed that fateful day to pass.

The first he saw of Guinevere was a flash of her purple dress, running down the muddy streets of Camelot. Arthur followed, once leaving Camelot he had to run to keep up with her.

He found her standing in a field of flowers looking up to the sky, the rain had soaked her through and she stood there looking up, the sound of her heartache filling the air and now breaking his own.

Arthur carefully approached, he was not sure if she would even want him near her today.

Gwen span around in the pouring ran, her hands outstretched catching the rain, her eyes closed.

Visions of her father danced through her mind, she could see him picking her up as a child and spinning her around laughter filling the air, she could imagine watching him work, she could then feel his arms around her and the warmth coursing through her body and then she saw his lifeless body being taken away. Her vision then turned to Arthur, his soft lips now touching hers and she stopped spinning. Her eyes opened and as if the dream had turned to reality Arthur now stood there his hair dripping from his face, his red tunic clinging to his body.

Guinevere looked as if the world had been taken from her, Arthur reached out and moved the wet curl on her face. Her brown eyes stared at him and he moved carefully closer, his eyes never left hers as his hand now rubbed her cheek. He didn't know what to say, how to make the pain go away...he would do anything in the world for her and if he could bring her father back he would tear down the sky to do it!

Guinevere closed her eyes "I don't want to be alone anymore" her words were soft but broke his heart.

He immediately pulled her into him, his arms now protecting her from the world and in amongst the sound of the falling rain he whispered the three words that gave her a reason to live "I love you"
