The guards circled the perimeter nervously.
"Have you seen the leader?" The older man asked.
The younger of the two guards, who was no older than 19, just leaned up against the pillar.
"No. Why?"
The older guard enjoyed making his partner afraid.
"Well they say he's like a devil."
"Sure." The young guard looked of into the dark night that surrounded them. He heard the echoes of roars in the distance.
"Those are the Drexels. Deadly little freaks. That's what happened to the other guard. He fell. And they ate him."
"Hell of a guard dog though."
"Yeah keeps those freaks in line."
The old man leaned over the railing to peer off into the distance. He could see the lights of the main facility shutting down.
"Looks like our shift is over," he said to his young partner. The older man turned around.
He felt the foot break his jaw just as he saw his dead partner being thrown over the side. The guard fell onto the ground of the tower on the cold metal of the base. He felt the blood trickling over the floor. He could feel his body being lifted and thrown. He was weightless for what seemed like an eternity. Then suddenly he felt his body hit the ground. He tried to get up but his skeleton had been broken beyond repair. He heard the growling. The Drexel appeared before him. He felt the searing pain, as his neck was ripped open.
Two glowing eyes moved at the top of the tower. The Drexels had begun to feast on the two dead guards. The eyes shifted position. Off in the distance the boat was sitting, all ready to leave the next morning. The eyes moved quickly off in the direction of the dock. The pitch-black night allowed the moon to appear for a split second, as the body to which the eyes belonged to was visible. The golden rings glowed a strong color.
Another body appeared to join the first.
"You ready?" The ringed one asked the newly appeared creature.
"Yes."
XXXY CHROMOSOME
Giovanni shifted his body into the chair.
"How expensive were the loses?"
"Well are best estimates-"
"HOW EXPENSIVE ARE THE GOD DAMN LOSSES?!" Giovanni shouted at the accountant.
"Well each of the creatures was about, um…ten million dollars each."
"So sixty million dollars escaped the island, killed numerous employees, killed our guard dogs, and have no doubt set revenge upon the world."
"Well um…yes…"
"So what do you plan to do?" Giovanni asked the man who was now shaking uncontrollably.
"Well we've hired Hamilton."
"Good we've done business with him before. He should be able to handle the situation."
"Yes exactly." The accountant said smiling.
"Stop smiling you fool." Giovanni told the accountant.
The Persian sat on the couch patiently, awaiting its master. Giovanni came over and sat next to the large cat.
"We'll find those little bastards now."
