Modified Light's POV—Co-written with the anonymous sKyhe. This is…not quite a parody. A Death-Notified version of Evey's opening in V for Vendetta. I suggest you watch the movie…

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Death Note. I do not own the original version of the famous traditional poem for Bonfire Night. I do not own the original V for Vendetta screenplay. To see the original, visit my profile…IT'S AWESOME.

Remember, remember

The 5th of November

The church bells, the checkmate, the plot.

I know of no other date

Than that single checkmate

That should never be forgot

But what of the man?

I know his alias was L…

…And that in 2006, he attempted to stop the Kira Murders.

But who was he really?

Who was behind the alias?

We are told to remember the idea, and not the man.

Because a man can fail.

He can slip up, he can fall in love and be killed.

But despite his death and failure, an idea can still change the world.

I have experienced first-hand the power of ideas.

I've killed in the name of them…

…And I've died defending them.

But…

…Only now have I realized that you cannot kiss an idea…

…Cannot touch it…

…Or hold it…

Ideas do not play chess.

They do not eat strawberry cake.

They do not break your heart as they lie dying in your arms…

…Staring at you with the hurt of betrayal.

They do not love.

And it is no longer an idea that I miss.

It is a man.

A man that I killed on the 5th of November.

A man that I will never forget.
