Disclaimer: I do not own National Treasure, just Leilani.
Chapter One
Leilani walked quietly on the hot sand of the Hawaiian beach staring off into space, wishing for an adventure of some kind to come her way. She sighed quietly and stared at her watch, 6:00 pm it said, time for the movie she thought as she turned to head back home. Suddenly a sharp pain ran up her leg as she looked down shocked to see she had stepped on a watch like object. Yet instead of showing the time it had a blank screen and a tiny keyboard.
Without thinking Leilani slipped the strange object into her coat pocket and headed for home quickly forgetting about her find. Not until later would she remember the strange object.
"Leilani!" her younger sisters voice reached her as she started up the path to the door of her house, the young girl appeared at the door her black hair dancing as she bounce excitedly, her chocolate brown eyes glowing. Alana had taken after their mother who had died in child birth, while Leilani looked like her dad with long silky brown hair and slate gray eyes. Her skin was much paler that her sisters and freckles spattered across her nose.
"Papa got us National Treasure to watch to night!" she nearly yelled with glee as she waved the case around that she had been hiding behind her back. "I even made the popcorn." Leilani smiled, she knew how much her sister loved National Treasure, she too happened to enjoy the movie.
Later that night Leilani's sleep was interrupted by a strange dream, a dream that would change everything.
She found herself in a dark room surrounded by shadows that danced eerily along the walls, "Hello," she whispered fearing a reply yet praying for one at the same time.
"Welcome," a man's voice surrounded her bouncing and echoing 'till she didn't know where it began. "I see it has claimed a new owner." The silky voice continued and slid like oil over her senses, sending fear shooting up her.
"Fear me not child, I mean you no harm." It whispered.
"How do I know that?" she questioned cautiously, searching for the disembodied voice. A small laugh echoed, "I have no need to harm you" it said. "Indeed, perhaps you will be useful, since you have been chosen."
"Chosen?"
"Yes, you remember the device you found on the beach don't you?" it asked.
She nodded then thinking he may not be able to see that said yes.
He grunted, "You see, it has chosen you, it has found you worthy for the adventure it will take you on."
Her eyebrow rose slowly "Adventure?"
She could fell the man grinning, even though she could not see it.
"Yes, it can take you anywhere you desire. Just wish and so it will be, it can make fantasy real. That which was just on paper or on screen can become a reality to those who have the device you found. You just use the pad to type your destination and it will take you where ever you imagination fancies."
She stared in amazement, the asked slowly, "The catch?"
He cleared his throat, "Once you begin the adventure you can never return home, you can go anywhere you chose when one adventure ends except home. You must continue the game."
"What!" she yelled hysterically
"Its your choice whether to begin the adventure or to stay home and live a normal life like everyone else."
With those words Leilani awoke from the strange dream to the sound of her alarm clock. Sitting up slowly she stared at the watch on her nightstand and thought about her father, the way he had ignored her since their mother's death and how he gloated on his youngest daughter, with this thought she made her choice. Grabbing the watch she typed in the first thing that came to her mind, National Treasure.
